Hi all, with the Spectrogram function (Audacity) I came to this :

Went out to Maia yesterday to dirty drive upgrade a new CobraIV. Sad to see Obsidian Orbital in such a state, but the surprise was landing at Palin’s base- there is now a distinct green tinge to the atmosphere. Did a quick look to see if any US had appeared there but couldn’t see anything from OC.

ooooh!

Traitor to humanity! I hope a friend or family member of yours was in 1 of those pods!!

RP aside, why did you do that? lol
Nice rescue at the beginning btw, been meaning to do that myself, I should've done that for the CG!

Only want to report that I found what appeared to be Thargoid in FH-L B8-2. I went into an Alien Signal source, saw it and turned away as quick as possible. My ship was mass-locked for a while. I continued away at top speed and after about 30 seconds I could finally get away to another star system.

Cool :), that system is ~90 LYs from Merope, & looking at the USS Survey auto log it turns out I went to the b8-1 system in late October ;).
Anyway, if you're not running EDMC+USS log plugin then you can manually report it using the link in the op, the system you visited hasn't been logged in either the manual or auto log so far, so it's worth reporting [up]

*****************

On a separate note, I'm glad to report that EDMC+plugin is not reporting USS drops from the beta, as they are very different!

Hi everyone,

About 5 mins ago, when i was heading away from Palin's Center, during my second jump, to which system i don't remember at the moment, i was literally pulled out of hyperspace by two Thargoid ships. My ship was dead, unresponsive. I was scared ....less as i have never experienced anything similar. I was scanned and let go.

I managed to take this photo during the incident. (sorry for low quality)

Is this quite common around the area (as benig not far from Maia) or an unexpected encounter?

Err, they don't happen anywhere, they happen in a wide area centering around Merope, so far the furthest recorded one from Merope/nearest to Sol has been 256/157 LYs at HIP 10258. And here's a 3d map of recorded hyperdictions & other Thargoid things :). [edit] Actually, looking at the 3d map, it looks like the Hyperdiction from Paesan to Diaguandri is further/nearer to Merope/Sol, but bizarrely it's not in the log! And neither is the one to Tocopa [Hello LCU? ;)]

But yes it's relatively common around Maia, although in general hyperdictions are rare.
Btw cmdr Beteran your picture isn't showing, these forums haven't directly hosted pics in well over a year now, you need to link the photo from Imgur or something.
Oh & congrats on your 1st hyperdiction :)

Finally I can represent some video evidence about the Thargoids combat capabilities in one place. Till this time, this whole difference between Thargoid ships was kind of rumor. People who fights with them, most of the time just can only tell there was some difference, and some was harder. Some ppl not even know about it.
I fought many Cyclopses since we have medium AX multicannons, and I saw from the beginning the difference between the skills, but newer bothered with video recording. Also I'm doing many things in the game, not fighting all the time. This topic popped up on the weekend again, today I went to find some harder Cyclops to record a fight, so I can show the difference.

Who is interested:
First Cyclops for me is the more common, relatively easy, the harder ones are more rare.
-the dodging to me seems less harsh, maybe moves a bit slower (can be my imagination, can't really measure)
-not using shutdown field
-not a single caustic missile
-the swarm is easily destroyable

Second Cyclops is harder, but I want to note, I encountered harder ones. But the most notable difference up from this, is the swarm strength.
-more dodging, faster moving (but again, maybe it just to me)
-use shutdown field
-use caustic missiles after 2. 3. and 4. heart destroyed.
-if you boost away fast enough, they holds back the attack till in range again, can catch you off guard if not count on it.
-the swarm a bit harder to shot down. The swarms of the hardest Cyclops I fought in the past needed 8-12 rounds, direct hit from flak, not counting the missed shots.

Note: I made mistakes in the last video(also in the first, I'm not a pro), don't measure the fights in my last armor, but the second Cyclops was clearly more skilled.
Also there is Cyclopses between these two. Use only once the shutdown field and the missile. Shots only one missile, but no emp; emp+2 missile...
So anyone fighting with Thargoids: Not all Cyclops equal, there are skill differences, and if you are not experienced, and your first one was easy, a second one can leave you some unwanted presents.

Edit: spelling. Thanks for the heads up! English is not my strength anyway:)

Lol, unwanted presents :D.
Btw it's shutdown field not shotdown ;).

Although I haven't seen the videos yet, some nice work you've done there from what I've read :).
And interesting to know their are variances within the same ship types [up]

Bit of a useless contribution, but... on the way to Maia to snag some Meta Alloys to finally get into engineering (took an 18-month break, so playing catchup!) and on the jump prior to Maia, found a Non-Human Signal Source, Level 5. Ooooh, finally! Popped out to find a Thargoid peeking around the wreckage of a ship. Scanned me, and went about it's business. As a player of all the iterations of Elite, was something of a thrill to finally have my own "first encounter." Anyways... Thargoid legged it, and scanned it's wake, getting some Thargoid Wake Data in the process.

Jumping into Maia, encountered another Non-Human Signal Source, Level 6. Jumped out, and there were two Thargoids, one of whom immediately swarmed me upon scan. Wasn't carrying any cargo of any sort, and had yet to pick up Meta-Alloys. Didn't see it coming, didn't stand a chance.

On the way back, another Level 5 which I popped out to examine. Scanned, went about it's business, then swarmed me after a while since I stupidly forgot I had meta-alloys in my hold, but managed to get out of there with my skin intact.

Congrats :), I've played all 4 Elites too.

Re your NHSS 6 drop, I bet you were dropped almost right on top of them, they don't like that, it spooks them ;). Aside from when scanning, they don't like you within 500m of them.

To me it seems more and more evident that the Thargoid ships are bioengineerd living thargoids or some other living entity , we take tissue samples(since when do space ship have tissue) they scream when u kill them , and drop body parts like hearts and various carapace parts and other biomechanical items...
