Thargoid Interactions

Hi all, I am quite new to the game and during one of my first exploration trip I have discovered some Thargoids barnacles.
Is it safe to land and to do a tour around them with my SRV ?

Yes, and you can collect from them as well if they are 'ripe' or whatever it is called. Remember where it is and you can go back when you need the stuff to unlock an engineer that requires it.

If an interceptor does show up it'll hit you with a shutdown field. You don't want to be flying at that point... Scrapping down canyon walls and pancaking into the floor can scratch your paint job...

Of course it's not safe. Nothing is safe in ED. Who needs a game about safety.
Go and land, if Thargoids tear your ship apart, you would get a story to tell here.

About safety ... I decided to look at the Lowell Class Science Vessel HDR-617 while dangling around the vessel, 2 targoids flew in and shot, although I was unarmed and with an empty hold.

Did you get and stay to close to them? They don't normally start shooting unless your too close (assuming you don't have cargo they don't like).
Also assuming that hasn't changed in the past few months!

Ive had a peaceful interaction with a single cyclops a while back. I have fed them with meta alloys a time before the encounter approx 25m worth.

The encounter happened after a hyperdiction moving through the Pleiades, the cyclops approached and scanned me, then proceeded to match my movement and speed for about 15 minutes. I then invited a notorious AX pilot into crew, on launching the SLF the cyclops scanned my multi crew member and immediately went hostile..

As i understand it this is a bug, but if it is it was a fantastic one to experience.

I think the xeno damaged science vessels spawn always hostile Thargoids after a while as part of a scripted event like hatch breaking out escape pods while rescue ships try to grab them.

I've noticed an odd bug where Thargoids tractor beams just don't work. Dropped some meta alloys for one, pulled back a bit, and just watched as it kept trying to pull it in but the canister just stood still while losing health to degrading as it does when ejected. Decided not to stick around to find out what would happen when the container self destructed while the Thargoid was trying to pull it in. Seemed like a bad idea.

I got hyperdicted on my way from the Bubble to see what the Superweapon did in Pleiades. The Thargoid vessel killed my power, got closer and scanned me. All normal.

Then, for some (clearly impious and non-Euclidean) reason, it chose to boost towards me, hit my canopy (non consensually!), decided it was my fault, and went full-on war mode.

I had to leg it as fast as possible and barely escaped.

I blame Salvation.

Earlier today I had a weird interaction with a Basilisk.
I was hyperdicted by two interceptors: as soon as I dropped into real space I boosted away and I was relatively away when the shutdown field hit me, so one interceptor (didn't see the type) waked out immediately, while the Basilisk came within 500m of my ship and stood there purring, without scanning me or doing anything else.
As I regained control of my ship I moved around, and the Basilisk would always try to stay 500m away: no matter how fast or slow I was, it would always move to reposition itself and match my speed.
Eventually I resumed my trip, as the interceptor wouldn't go anywhere (and my ship was not really geared for AX combat, so poking it was out of the question).

Hi there, first time posting in these forums, was at a thargoid surface site and observed a scavenger, i am not sure if this behavior has been seen before, here is a screenshot,
it looked like it was spraying the Egg with some sort of liquid.

Yes - looks like, after doing some of their poking at lesions in the structures, the scavengers fly a little ways away, and dump the (presumably mycoid infected) substance they have been extracting on the ground -- possibly for subsequent processing by microorganisms that hypothetically permeate the soil, and are part of nearby barnacle systems.

They have always done that, but not specifically targetting "eggs", I don't think. -Maybe a lot of pus dropped in one spot could result in the ridden tissue, or its interaction with "antibodies", forming those pustules...

Thargoid sensor probe found in BLEIA EOQ LA-C D14-2 yesterday by CMDR Spooky del Taco. We were searching for Guardian sites near the ETA Carina Nebula when he came across this while scanning an undiscovered system.

hi CMDRs , not sure if this is the correct place to post & ask about what i experienced last nite ( stumbled upon it ) but as i mentioned recently here--> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/thargoid-invasion-next-target-systems.612125/post-10486207 ... i am still very new/newb-ish regarding most Thargoid content. Anyways....

Last nite , while in my T-8 fuel/rescue ship just heading back to my FC, i happened to stumble upon a rather odd 'Distress Call' location very very close to a planet. So, normally these types of zones will be some random NPC lone ship prompting me to accept/decline ( panel 2 pop-up choice ) helping them in some small way, usually involving re-fueling them with my fuel limpets. However....

Instead, this time i entered a Distress Call version i had never seen nor heard of before.... With some amazing "alien" type large ship i also had never seen nor heard of before. AND.... there were lots of strewn about rare cargo salvage ( legel & illegal ) with maybe 20 dead marooned Imperial ships amidst some green gas present ( resembled 'caustic cloud' , but except it didn't damage my ship at all ) ....along with.... one single THARGOID 'scout' ship patrolling around. It was incredible and intense , because again for me i had never seen such a zone before and i'm wondering if maybe i discovered or uncovered some new mystery??? ---- Here is the screenshot i took:

... And then, after a few minutes as i'm trying to stay far enough away out-of-range ( since my T-8 isn't an AX equipped ship at all ) , the Thargoid Scout stopped it's patrolling and just "hyperjumped" vanished right OUT of the zone! So then, i started scooping up some of the rare LEGAL cargo, which prompted something else really cool happening: All of a sudden i get ain ingame MAIL "incoming critical message" from my onboard computer into panel-2 . And it's some Salvage Mission to go find 10 "unique" Structural Regulators ! ( what the heck are those i wonder?? )

Anyways, it was all super fun and very moody ( great music too! ) and one of the main reasons why i enjoy this grand ( albeit flawed ) EliteDangerous game so much. :geek:
