Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

Victories in 77 Theta-1 Tauri, Cephei Sectors WO-A b4 and BV-Y b2, Trianguli Sectors CA-A c22 and EQ-Y b6, Nibelaako, Pegasi Sector QE-N a8-1, HIPs 7277 and 7338, Col 285 Sector OG-E b12-1 and Arietis Sector FL-X b1-1! M. Thor loses that Matrix system (provisionally!), and the final Alert at 70 Tauri is probably a pair of passenger-filled Pythons away from completion.

Being Wednesday, the remaining peripheries probably will be providing no more than a clean-up discount until the next cycle begins. M. Leigong is ahead with 44% but could only really yield HIP 7819 from here, which is best done later when a push to 100% will take four Matrix systems rather than three. M. Raijin is doing well with 40% and some of its discounted systems already attracting attention, and a bit more at M. Hadad or M. Cocijo would place some systems nicely within the strength to complete them without restocking.

Peripheries at 07:10 25th October 3309:

...Wut.

HIP 20827 is in a funny state, because it has Resource Extraction Sites - in a Thargod Controlled system! There really are quite a few miners and pirates there, and when the interceptor appears, they all run away! I searched in outposts, planetary ports and settlements, but I didn't find those 142K people anywhere.

Which three spire systems are "cleared" ? (related to the 42/45 posted above)
Wait, so clearing the systems removes the spires?
(a bit OOL, so please bear with me ty)

Raxxla confirmed! :D

Indeed—and if not:
  • Whether actions at a Spire site in a cleared Matrix system still contribute to the new Peripheral systems around that Maelstrom.
  • Whether Fleet carriers are allowed back into the system again.
If those systems remain as Control, I am not sure what we are supposed to do beyond perhaps reducing the average Alert strengths if we can, and just holding the space we have. If the Spire sites become unusable, I think a great place to encourage Commanders to move would be M. Hadad, where the closest system is itself a Matrix system!

Additional: Going to clear up M. Hadad a bit this evening, if knowing that helps a bit to avoid overlap! M. Raijin has some softer targets which were already underway.
Update: Making quite good time! Four of six at M. Hadad are ready, and we should have time for all six.

Victories in 70 Tauri, Pegasi Sectors LY-O a7-3, MY-O a7-3, LY-O a7-5, QE-N a8-5 and PE-N a8-4, Col 285 Sectors KW-M c7-28, PM-B b14-4, SH-B b14-7, WN-Z b14-2 and WN-Z b14-3, and HR 2138! That becomes eighty-three systems just as week 47 ends.

The M. Hadad and M. Raijin peripheries moved a good amount inward, and I love how activity at the latter also alternated between that and guarding Vistnero! Unfortunately it moves the attack onto Holvandalla in the short term, but it will reduce inhabited targets there in the longer term. Speaking of guarding things, we have the quite strong and non-peripheral HIP 29226 upcoming to keep Col 285 Sector RH-B b14-2 safe; this is planned for completion by Saturday evening, where any extra activity on prior days is most welcome.

Regarding the percentage progress given by Titan rescues and Spire attacks, a note of relative import is that the peripheral Matrix systems at M. Taranis reported over 280% eventually. When a periphery is complete, we really need Commanders to move elsewhere if they will! We need that word to spread when it occurs, which can be difficult to see from within Elite, but I will mention it all here.

Whatever becomes of completed Matrix sites, M. Leigong now awaits a periphery completion, and the placement of HIP 30439 makes M. Hadad always a good choice!

So, looking at Leigong, if I did things at the spire site in Hyades Sector NT-I b9-4, where exactly would that progress go? Would there even be any, doing stuff at an outer site, rather than one of the inner ones?

Hyades Sector NT-I b9-4 is a peripheral system, so it will show that progress itself, and the answer to your first question is that all ten of the outer M. Leigong systems would also receive the same percentage progress. That includes five Alerts, four Matrix systems, and HIP 7819!

As far as we know, sufficient actions at any Spire site will contribute to the periphery, even if the Matrix system is not itself a peripheral system. For example, you should be able to use HIP 9180 if you wanted; it would show no progress itself, but those same ten outer systems would receive the progress instead.

Very strong sweep of Alert victories in Arietis Sectors WJ-R b4-0 and WJ-R b4-2, Cephei Sectors AV-Y b0, AV-Y b6 and ZE-A c8, Pegasi Sectors MN-S b4-0, HH-U b3-2 and MN-S b4-2, and HIP 9137! Also storming ahead is Holvandalla, as is the M. Indra periphery. Note that the M. Leigong periphery is a little deceptive; many systems have 26% due to surplus from last week, but Hyades Sector KN-K b8-3 reveals that it is actually 10%.

With Spire sites becoming abandoned after Control is evicted, it seems they are a limited resource. At this stage they are still blocking our path more so than they are scarce, especially at M. Leigong where four Matrix systems and five Alerts are saturating its periphery. We are fine for the moment, but I suggest planning ahead a bit—ensure Commanders know now not to clear the final Matrix system until we are ready, and if possible equip oneself for Titan rescues ahead of a future need for them in the absence of a Spire site.

A small intermediate update as the evening begins—the M. Indra periphery has reached the 85% limit for normal Control systems! All of said systems now require very small amounts of individual completion to recapture, and are listed below.

In a scarcity scenario this would be an absolutely excellent time to stop the peripheral progress and reuse the Matrix system again next week, which I mention just in case it helps Commanders think that way later on. For now it is quite fine to continue and remove Hyades Sector DX-H a11-1, and either way it will be time for Titan and Spire activity to move to another Maelstrom.

The leading Maelstrom choices at present are now Taranis at 32%, Thor at 28% and Leigong at 10% (completion needed here!). Maelstroms Oya and Raijin also have some split progress due to partial completion last week!

Very well done to everyone clearing these Alerts; if the peripheral system progress is helping, you are all making excellent use of it! The cleaning-up at M. The M. Taranis peripheral progress is complete; we cleared away the empty systems (as a few Commanders noticed!), which along with the Matrix system completion has actually removed attacks for the first time in a while, and we will be taking Ixbalan and Hyades Sector HW-W d1-52 later today. Clearance at M. Thor follows that, at which a little more peripheral progress is possible but by no means required.

The Matrix system from M. Indra earlier now reports 222%—we really need that drive to move onto another Maelstrom! All I can suggest is attempting to contact Commanders and asking if they would be happy to continue at a different system, where I am thinking to visit and check System chat. Hyades Sector KN-K b8-3 at M. Leigong would be nice, but at least let it be anywhere except M. Taranis and M. Indra.

Indeed; I have Liu Huang in the main list for this week! Notably HIP 7819 is in a similar state, albeit caused instead by surplus Peripheral progress last week rather than individual activity this week. A little snippet from the full check earlier:

Ah. I usually just check the daily reports of most recent progress rather than that particular list.

Anyway, I did inquire in DCoH discord and it appears to be random effort there currently. Whether it will go through this week - ideally, yes, since some of SNPX might jump in on it too - remains to be seen.
