Thargoid Revenants (spoilers?)

Do the hovering clown cars Scouts disgorge more drone things only after you’ve destroyed the current batch ie. would it be more beneficial to leave just one drone alive?

It seemed to be, though perhaps with a bit of overlap between “waves” spawned - it’s also quite possible to just avoid them completely by being more stealthy / discreet in approach…^

The mission actually isnt that bad, land 2 or 3km away, dismiss ship, SRV to edge of base, run in, avoid green flashy things and just do the normal restore.
Run out avoiding the angry green beams of light, hop in SRV, recall ship and Bobs your mums brother.

What if shoot them with dumbfires

L6 Rocket Launcher gets rid of Revenants very quickly. I land just over 1Km away, go in on foot - power up base and collect secondary item - find an ammo box close to a power point and you can shoot revenants all day if you want to! When you are ready to leave - shoot last one and then leg it out of the base before the scout drops more - clear the area and recall your ship

other than hitting them from the air with AX Dumbfires, the Aphelion's by far the best option to deal with Revenants if you have steady access to ammo boxes.

Just like with vs skimmers, its kinda pain to land hits with kinetic and even bigger pain to use plasma, they move quite fast and its very likely for them to be elsewhere before plasma or bullet manages to get there.

Thermal owns them on other hand, and they dont seems like being resistant to that type of dmg. Also eclipse works very well too. Not quite sure yet, but it seems that they might have weak spot, where is thier lightblog thing located. When I was shooting it with my lasers wich do have headshot mod, when hitting its "eye", dmg was higher than dmg done into any other of its parts.

Still, with focusing laser fire into eye, I could kill about 2 revenats with single clip, and since there is only 6 of them per batch, it took about 3 mags to remove full squad of these.

Once entire batch of revenats is killed, scout will came in and drops next ones, and that seems have no limit.

For lulz, I was able to gather about 20 scouts that way, as these after droping revenats instead of waking out, they just hover about 700-800m above settlement, and ingore dmg taken from ground.
would it be more beneficial to leave just one drone alive?

It is beneficial to leave one out - as one drone is not big threat at all, you can progress with mission much easier with just single drone to worry about, and unless all of drones are gone, new ones wont appear.

It also seems that only initial batch of drones is most lethal, as they actually atleast patrol settlements and move around. If these are gone, any next ones seems being much more dumb and they kinda stuck to area where they was being droped by scout.

In case you're wondering, no, powering on ground turrets doesn't work as revenants and ground turrets are not hostile to each other.
And the most PERFECT scenario would be re-programming the turrets to BE hostile towards them.

Want to make it complex? I'd get that, but at least make it a useful option. Let US do the switchy thing once in a while.

OK, if they use radar why do they have search lights?
So WE can see what direction they're going / aiming at.

Testing a few things with them:
  • They do not react to frag grenades exploding in their sight
  • They do not react to shield disruptors detonating in their sight
  • They do not react to shield projectors in their sight
  • They do not react to gunfire from the Manticore Oppressor (Plasma Assault Rifle) passing in front of them, nor it impacting the ground in their sight
  • They do not react to the "sound" of gunfire outside with unsilenced weapons
  • When they spot you, they give chase and other revenants are likely to notice and join in. If you enter a building or otherwise lose their line of sight, they'll go to where they last saw you and look around for a while (I've seen gunfire indicators on the radar while I fled around the side of a building to break open a door on the other side, but they don't seem to actually follow you if they lose track of you; might just be them shooting at where you were or where you are without realizing they don't actually know where you are?)
  • As far as I can tell, they don't seem to have the same ability to notice the "sound" of footsteps while walking without crouching that humans have. Might need to test more.

Gotta say that makes no sense to me. I restore a base that's deep in enemy hands and run away. Then they just take it down again? 🤷‍♂️

Would make more sense if these were missions to retake the base like a CZ of some kind where you have to cleanse a certain number of revenants and scouts. Only you get no NPC help but any player can join in. Maybe it actually requires some of the combined arms they keep talking about. Or maybe you get some help depending on how deep it is in goidland? 🤷‍♂️

A few more pics from closer up...^

What’s the consensus on the most effective weapon against Revenants?

I initially thought kinetic would be good (AR-50) because they are not shielded, and it was ok. But the rocket launcher 1-shots them.

I haven’t tried laser guns but there are reports of these being effective.

I have been using silenced weapons wherever possible but I’m wondering if that makes any difference. It seems to but that may just be my imagination.

Regardless of weapon, it seems best to shoot from inside a building that has recharge and rearm inside.

So what say you? Laser, plasma, kinetic or rockets? Also does silencing matter?

Edit: assume G5 on all weapons

Where at?
I've gone to settlements in occupied systems, looked in mission boards in alert systems, looked in mission boards in invasion systems.
Alert and invasion systems do not allow disembarking to check the boards in the concourse. I even powered up a settlement in occupied systems and looked at the grayed out mission board there.
Any hints on where to find this new content? What am I missing?
