Thargoid Spire confirmed

I've been thinking on this... there might actually be a bug with these when you're in your ship. You said your ship passes straight through and force shells have no impact. When i was fighting one from my ship, i noted i couldn't see shell impact and heard no "beep" when registering an impact. I just thought it was difficult to see... but potentially weapons are also just clipping through... would explain how i went through so much ammo, and also explain why they can't be targeted.
Seems like currently the best way to fight is not in your ship or SRV, but on foot. Do Banshees and Revenants respawn? At least not immediately. What worked best for me was to kill everything on foot and only then get the SRV to collect the materials.

I made a short video where one can see how the Thargoid vessels enter and leave the spire. They have theire own airlocks at the spire's base, where they come and go.

Not sure, if this is of any significance. Probably not. Anyway it's a nice gimmick at least.

edit: also this is what makes me curious if there is any way to get INSIDE the spire. Or maybe the airlocks could be vulerable spots for attack?

Another side note: Are toughened spear roots gone for good?

Maybe new matrix sites will form?
The toughened spear roots are still there, in the middle of 4-5 mega-barnacles, and now it's emitting that beam of light, but there's nothing inside, to scan or collect, at least as far as I could see.

One perhaps interesting question - are all spire sites exactly the same, or maybe there are some differences, depending on the type of body, the type of atmosphere?
I am in the Cocijo sphere, so I will visit all his Spires (5).
Probably there is no difference in these sites, but it is interesting to try.

Here is the list (in case someone doesn't know about it)

FWIW, I confirmed that AX MC's just do sweet FA to Banshees. Rained several clips onto the banshee, and did just 10% damage.

Interesting. I left my SRV about 1k away and it blew up without anything near it. I suspect terrain deformation at distance for LOD killed it, but even if not, this might be a way to spare a ride long enough to clean up under the domes.

Alright, what's the best way to take out revenants? So far they are the greatest challenge for me when exploring spires on foot.

What I'm doing now is land as close as I can near the mega barnacles, disembark and run as fast as I can inside to look for cover while the revenants chase me.

When they are in their hostile state, it's near impossible for me to hit them with my plasma shots so I will wait until they return to patrol state and take them out slowly with my executor before I can start harvesting the spire materials for Palin.

Get a rocket launcher, upgrade it to at least grade 4. Move in slow and take each one out with one shot so they don't have the opportunity to go hostile. Have a shield grenade ready, they can save you if you start to get pinned down.

There is no lack of geometry holes where you can "glitch" into it, and see its exteriors from inside, but if there are any "rooms", I have certainly not been within their visibility regions. :7

I wonder whether the teasingly conspicuous arches framing a flat wall, right beneath the platforms with the stuff dispensers, are more than a red herring -- you clip the ground rather deeply on the way toward them. :7

I just checked - once you destroy all the Revenants and Banshee, around one mega-barnacle, they don't spawn, I spent maybe two hours there, and they didn't spawn. Then you can collect all the materials in peace.
I entered the shelter with SRV, then destroyed the Revenants with L-6 from the entrance, and then changed the suit to Dominator with 2 shotguns and stowed reloading, and entered the Banshee under its belly and jumping in the air destroyed it relatively quickly. Of course low gravity helps in everything.
In the end, I was searching and trying everything to see if I could find something new, entering the opening from which the semi-refined falls out, dropping the spire compound there, then coming with Maverick to see if anything could be cut - climbing on top of the barnacle, then jumping on high balconies under the roof, but I discovered nothing.

The lack of anything to do with the Maverick suit is a little disappointing... but maybe there will be something later?

Alternatively, I've found the Scorpion works quite well. Take out any aggroed Revenants first, then go after the Banshee, then clean up any leftover Revenants.

I'm guessing not well... the place is swarming with Orthrus'.... Guardian tech and Orthrus' don't mix well.
You're right, it didn't go well, though not for that reason. I'm not the best pilot, and I'm using a controller, so trying to keep mobile and attack ground units with a tinfoil ship kind of wasn't happening. Tried both the gauss and the shard, and got no ground kills with either. I did take down a scout before i ate it though.

HOWEVER, I'm not sure if anyone has tried going after the interceptors, but since I brought an AX ship I decided to see what happens. It didn't fight back, didn't try to run away, made some horrible noises I hadn't heard before, and netted me 40 mil. I'm not sure if I should feel bad or go on a murder spree and make truck loads of easy money.

that's standard fare for Orthrus. I think it could be pretty profitable.

The Orthrus around the spires are pretty buggy, if you attack them once they've started scanning stuff they won't change their behavior, won't emit an EMP, won't start their guardian melty field and make no attempt to flee. But if you attack them while they're just flying around above the spires they do go into flee mode, which will destroy guardian modules and if there's multiple players in the instance, you have the risk of insta-shutdowns due to them triggering multiple EMPs without warning (one player will get the warning but the others don't).

If this is the case, it seems we can't do much more but wait for the Proff to make some scientific breakthrough. Maybe it's better to focus on freeing some more people out of the Titans loving embrace.

For me that means I have to jump over to the Guardian Ruins to get myself a relic. Oww. Nah. I rather toy around at the spire sites a littel longer :p
