Thargoid War Rebalancing

So I recently picked up Odyssey as the new Thargoid stuff seemed pretty exciting and I was curious.. How accessible is this war effort for new/returning players? But also is there a way for less combat outfitted Commanders to contribute?

(Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask o7)

You can pick up the new AX multicannons and missiles from the rescue megaships, with no unlocking required, same with various bits of defensive gear. They'll be good enough for taking on Scouts and can be used effectively on the weaker Interceptors with a bit of practice, or if you team up with others can also provide additional firepower against even the biggest.

Some Alert systems (the populated ones) and most Invasion systems also have a lot of options for cargo haulers and passenger ferries to contribute. Alert systems have minimal Thargoid presence - you have to go looking for it - but Invasion systems you'll need to be ready to run away if you can't fight back. For those you want a fast transport ship - ideally one which can get to 550m/s on boost while still having decent hull and shields to take incoming fire. That means at least a bit of engineering, so if you're not yet at that stage, maybe stick to Alerts for now.

With Thargoids present in over 400 systems and growing, but humanity only able to take on about 10 systems each week, you should try to focus on systems where other people are already fighting or hauling so that your efforts count for more. You can figure those out from the in-game map, or join an AX group to see their advice, or https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/thargoid-invasion-next-target-systems.612125/ has a regularly updated list of where the most active systems are. (No-one seems to be prioritising Alerts much this week, so far - it's all Invasions)

There are also sometimes CGs which relate to the war effort which can be contributed to - away from the front lines! - in the usual way, but none are active right now.

As I can say with all respects and nowledge: you not have to win the war actually. The storyline of our 'benefactors' will do. Not bad, not good, just what we have now. But sometimes, the fights worths it.
