i'm curious as to how this is any different from other games where a developer changes either the way the AI behaves or what build works or not in a patch.
To my mind it's not. Just.. Get.. over it.. Builds changes.. AI changes.. Patches happen... Often without notice..
They decided AX missiles were too powerful, made things too easy so they were nerfed. Just like in any other games.. So they decided to kill 2 birds with one stone.. Bring in the adapt story AND fix the OP missiles.
Get over it
Fdev knew the thargoids were going to adapt. Told us they would both from Sandro, Ed and others.
We were told "winter is coming" and people really.. really thought what we had was winter? If it was it was more like "Damp October's coming".
They could have adapted by learning not to fly in a straight line, they could have adapted by winging up and forcing us to fight two or three Interceptors, They could have adapted by sending the new improved Interceptor Mk II into battle, with better shields and more hearts, they could have adapted by being more aggressive and using their stronger attacks at the beginning of a fight, they could have adapted by sending their fast nimble scout ships into battle that would be difficult to hit with dumbfire missiles. Those things I was expecting. Instead they adapted by reducing the effectiveness of our weapons... eh? what? I can't even..?
Alternatively Frontier could have just admitted that the weapons were too powerful and we were winning too easily, apologised and reduced the missiles damage by an appropriate amount.
