Thargoids taking over the bubble in 3.. 2...

Did some scout fighting for a while, using a krait with ax turrets. Easy, but got tired of returning to a station due to caustic damage every now and then. Also I didn't find it that interesting, blindly shooting at an alien race without any other communication or info about them.

I think for many players, they are a bit too complicated, or a bit difficult. To fight them, you have to spend hours on YouTube and websites getting info, and learn very specific fighting techniques. And you still get your a$# kicked. So many don't care. They are endgame multiplayer stuff, and many players play solo and just want to chill and triumph :) , not face overwhelming odds. Or just not into heavy combat. I wish there was some more interaction with them, like exploring, spying, whatever..

The only alien related things I DID get to do, is the guardian fsd and shield booster, so that speaks about the motivation thing..
Yep, putting the Thargoids behind additional grind and outfitting was not a good move IMHO. And not having their position/actions/outcomes clearly visible, likewise.

Consider if you could go into the galaxy map and via a Powerplay type view see the Thargoid position, and by drilling into it see tasks you can undertake to have an effect/outcome.

And consider if where this requires combat this involved standard/traditional weapons (maybe some of which are slightly more/less effective against Thargoids etc).

That sounds more appealing and interesting to me at least...

ps: And as you suggest, if those tasks also involved other things like spying (stealth scanning of Thargoid assets), or imagine CQC fighter based gameplay available via tasks where you deploy in fighters from a capital ship to undertake something, etc... etc...

I think the issue will become we don't see much for doing loads, after fighting them everywhere it cost more in repairs than you get from killing them. couple it all with Thargoids encroaching everywhere it will soon be a non event. What we need is a way to hit back not just at the ships but the Hive ships to beat them back not just stop gap measures

The trouble with Thargoids is we know very little about them, beyond their capacity for destruction.Neither their origin, nor their ultimate objectives is known to us, of their motivation we know naught,we don't even know what triggered the onslaught, although if rumour is to be believed, solo claimed to have shot first.I'm still not sure they are not merely some kind of space born soldier ant clearing a path for the progress of their queen, following some ancient migration route.

Well, many of you have put questions here in this forum and others have answered them already. I would remind you of the painstaking work of Louis Calvert who uncovered a theory about the Thargoids using facts from the Lore and the game itself which fits in best of all known theories.

In the meantime, many more things happened and I would like to applaud to Cmdr Jmanis posting - yes, you are right.

Though I haven't read everything there is to read in regards to the Thargoids, I did read that they consist of two groups, one of which is opposed entirely to humans and one that is at best tollerant to humans. And that so far to date, we are not able to distinguish the difference. Thus, I am not going to bother attempting to kill them, because I'm not able to determine which of the two groups I come accross are the ones that don't like humans.

I am a member of the Aliance and though my home base in Shinrarta, I spend the overwhelming vast majority of my time way down what I call South if one considers Colonia to be North; In the area of the California Nebula.

I've been pulled out of hyper space (interdicted) by the thargoids more than a dozen times in the last 9 months in and around that area. And with the exception of my stupidity when entering a USS which stated something about aliens being there. Have never been attacted! Interdicted, scanned, a bunch of mumble jumble via the comes that I don't understand. And always released without any harm. Though I should also add that none of the ships I utilize in that area have any weapons except my mining conda which only has two class one mining lazers. Thus if they wanted, they could, but so far to date, the've never done anything but interdict and scan.

I think what the OP talks about is basically whats supposed to happen. thats the entire point of them pushing Colonia so hard for all this time. Its the place the bubble will be evacuated to.

I also think that to do this some sort of tech break thru will happen that lets us travel thru witchspace like the Thargoids do. Realistically its the only way they will get a good portion of the player base to actually travel out there making some sort of stargate for fast travel.

Call me a pessimist but I reallt dont see any of that happening ever.

Them pushing where so hard?

I've been in Colonia for most of the last two years and while it's certainly not been ignored and we get some interesting things from time to time, it's really not been a focus of Frontier compared with the bubble, the Thargoids, the Guardians, etc. (which is fair enough - there are a lot more players over there than over here and I'm happy that we get as much time as we do from Frontier)

If people want to come out here to get away from the Thargoids, then we've got plenty of non-Thargoid content. See you soon! But the place is nowhere near big enough to support a mass player migration - the trade economy will jam up completely at around 5000 active traders (and will run out of high-profit goods way before then), the system populations are too low to have a stable BGS at high traffic levels, and there are a lot of "core" gameplay elements beyond just the Thargoids which are intentionally not available (superpowers, Powerplay, high-end outfitting) or just aren't there yet in large numbers (rare goods, tourist beacons)

To fit the entire player base in, you'd need to make it considerably bigger, have new homes for the superpowers and Powers, etc. etc. ... and at that point you might as well just use the remaining half of the original bubble and save everyone a journey.
