That horrible, fake southern accent

Dont be offended by some of the tributes in the game. If you noticed ED does tributes to SCI FI movies. The Southern accent is a tribute Cruise's OBLIVION. Furthermore, people who live in rural parts of Northern States have similar accents.

Perhaps you're all thinking of the wrong south

Laurel and Hardy as traffic controllers, now that would be good :)

Why do these people even have recognizable accents? Are they all from Earth countries? I find the whole thing implausible.

Im a Scot.. east coast.
The Scots traffic controller sounds like hes from Glasgow or Central Scotland.. or North west coast.
Personally Im in love with the Imperial station announcer not traffic controller..she sounds like shes from Netherlands or maybe Sweden.. :D

As a Texan I have to say that woman traffic controller with the fake southern accent makes me want to rip my ears off. For those of you in Great Britain it is akin to an American saying "ello guvna fancy a spot o tay?' (shudder) Absolutely horrific.

It is not a Texan accent.
These people live light years removed from Texas and as far as I know Texas might have ceased to exist at least a millennium ago.
From what I heard it is an accent from the planet Maburlyflart III.

I believe the voice actors are British. I suspect the one in question is British and has tried to copy Dolly Parton.
Even the 'American' voice used for most Fed stations is just a generic accent. A lot of Brit actors are used in US movies these days but when you ask yourself 'ok which state does he come from?' you realise it's a Brit using a 'generic American' accent e.g. Idris Elba. I've worked with a lot of Americans and they all had variations in their accents because they came from different states.

Considering how big these stations are and how few people actually visit some of them they should all speak messed up cause their probably all inbred.

I did NOT say it was a bad Texas accent, I said it was a bad SOUTHERN accent. But I get your drift with the 'in the distant future accents can change' idea. Interesting idea.

You mean like Andrew Lincoln in Walking Dead? Or like Dominic Cooper in Preacher? At least British actors realise that there ARE different US accents unlike most Americans ATTEMPTING some mad generic British accent.

It's not just accents that will change in that time. English itself will be almost entirely different in 1300 years.
