Hey all,

after slightly more than eight years of playing Elite Dangerous I finally exceeded the 10.000 hours of play. I would like to celebrate this here today with all those who spend that much time of their life in a computer game too - in this one computer game.

7,900 and a bit here...however that's all play time, some people could inflate their count by just leaving the game logged in so I don't put much faith in claims of huge hours, although I do think 7k to 10k hours over 8 years is a reasonable claim, that's my play years as well, but if someone came forward with 20k hours for the same number of years I would be a bit doubtful, I know how often I play to get those numbers.

Well, mine are what they say - i dont leave my accounts running over night or generally speaking, unattended.

However, i sometimes dual-log, so a certain part of those hours are overlapped and so the number doesn't reflect pure RL hours but only in-game hours.

Last time I checked I'd exceeded 12k hours.....thought I was still only around 11.5k hours, but seems I'd put more hours in .

I'm guilty of that. Life happens.

In one instance, the school called to inform me my son was ill so I had to go pick him up from school. I left immediately. The game was logged in until the next day without me ever being there.

That said, I only have the Steam count to go by as I'm not sure if there's a place in game to see it, but I'm at 1,468 hours as of this posting.

Good lord thought I played a lot, 6500 hrs. Sir, I salute you!

Back-of-an-envelope calculation - there have been 71,256 hours since the game launched. So that's still 61,000 hours wasted on things like sleep and hygiene.

Yep , never turned game time into hours before.

Decided to take 3 snapshots 1 FEB 3309, Not 100% sure on my maths, LoL.

Which was 7x Week + Days x 24 + Hours

Main CMDR, 64W 4D 8H 53MIN, 10,856 hrs more or less.
Second CMDR, 16W 2D 11H 26MIN, 2,747.
Third CMDR, 3W 6D 20H 15MIN, 668.

A Grand total of 14,271 Hours, yikes, that's tragic in a fun sort of way,

HIP 106692 system was visited for the first time on EDSM by expugnax (me) on Jan 21, 2016, 10:23:44 PM.
And, by coincidence, that is exactly where I landed today, have I really been playing for 7+years. ?

Total time is 10,532 hours, and never left unattended.

Yeah I've jumped into a few systems like that, it becomes very obvious when you are running Elite Observatory because the program doesn't record the main star data if you have already visited and hence the bio comes up as unexpected. On checking the two occasions this has happened I get records in EDDiscovery back in 2015 and guess what boys, here I am again! 7+ years later!
