yesterday i took my third look at the competitor SC.
may be it is a big advantage for ED, that it lags life at this stage of development!
To build a world around an organism seems to be much more difficult then filling an existing world with live. The goals that have to be reached are more clear to see and the needs are clearer defined. The differences between a Universe with 100 hand made star systems and a universe with Millions of Systems that have to be generated by algorythems is totally clear. Glitches for example can not be removed by hand in the second case, they have to be avoid by the system itself.
I think ED does not need special "getin" or "getout" animations?
What do you think?
An option to leave the ship in space and fly around with a jetpack would be very nice, but what use should this have exactly?
Repairs?
Explore capital shipwracks or orbital struktures?
Another question is, how citys should been build by algorythems and if they should be able to grow?
~20 kinds of finished citys or
~5 kinds with several modular extensions for example?
Building the terrain of Atmosperic Planets is another question.
Jungle, desert, grassland, waterworlds. Trees, wildlife (tourist safari missions?)?
Is that even possible in a MP environment without droping fps too much?
Where are the limits of COBRA??
Another thing is, how likely is it, that humans are the only intelligent species in the explored bubble?
What do you think?
Wich things have to be essential and wich become negligible?
