The ARX Bamboozle - Cows to the Slaughter

Where's the line for you? What is your line in the sand with FDev? Can they do no wrong? If DB himself came to your home and kicked you in the nuts, would you smile and say "thank you"?

Making things better for everyone isn't a bad thing. Why do people argue about making things better?

Would it be better if people knew what they were paying without having to whip out their calculator? Objectively yes. Hands down. Any argument with that makes you look either pigheaded or simply foolish.

Also, FDev isn't EA. I think we can all agree this addictive impulse monetization systems are par for the course for EA. However, it's looking more like FDev are copying EA's strategies for shady business practices more and more when they should be aspiring to be more like cd projekt red.

Keep on defending it, it's been awesome for companies like EA and it can only bring greatness to FDev.
You do know what youre paying. 5$ for a 5$ arx pack

You literally said "Frontier doing that to people." It wasn't out of context. "That" referred to you exactly saying that you spent all your money on SWTOR. It was the sentence preceding, which I included, which was the context.

What is "that" supposed to be referring to, if not what I put in bold? What "context" was stolen from this that would change its meaning? Answer these questions.

I do so look forward to you coming up with an excuse to get around your own words. How will you avoid answering those questions? How will you pretend to still be right? I guess we'll see!
You really are thick, aren't you?

It's two separate things. One one side is me spending money on SWTOR, on the other is Frontier's virtual currency.
I've spent money on SWTOR, I've spent NOTHING on Arx.

You are an absolute idiot if you think I'm blaming Frontier for what I've spent on SWTOR.
I don't have to pretend to be right about anything, it's you trying to be right. All I've done is admit what I did (which I regret) with SWTOR, something I could have kept quiet about and none of you would have had any idea, but unlike you, I'm honest about what I have and haven't done.

I would ask if you're happy now, but I don't think you are, unless this is new ammo for you to think you can attack with again, but you also fail to realise I don't care a fig about your opinion, or warped logic, you've shown me you are an idiot, a troll and a liar.

Have a nice day.

Well, I thought about buying a new paint job for my T9 last night, since I'm flying it at the CG. I didn't though, because I don't like any of the skins on offer as much as the default scheme.

Here's the thing: I have no idea how many Arx I have. I simply don't notice the number when logging in. I knew that if I didn't have enough I could buy more, but this didn't figure in my decision. I buy paint jobs if I want them, not otherwise.

No, this isn't isolated to a few things. It's pretty common throughout the store.
I looked a bit more closely...... I agree if you are the sort of person who likes bundles then prices have gone up.

if you just like to pick 1 skin for a ship then prices have often dropped. For me this is over all a good thing i think but YMMV.

I am surprised they dont do bundle deals with discounts on multiple items, many storefronts do offer such services. I reckon it will come in time, but for me i personally will stick with 1 paint per ship, and as i only really ever have 1 hull of each ship, for me the new system is slightly better.

Seeing as we are on the subject of the store, and i apologise if i am being dumb...

is there any way to sort by price? I notced a post in another thread a few months ago, claiming there was a free viper III paint job, now clearly that offer is unlikely to be on now, however the point is, i missed it.!. i looked in the store last night (web browser not in game) and i could not find a sort by price low to high option.

No no no - you have it all wrong. You don't get a choice in the matter, don't you know that FD has some evil mind control hold over everyone that plays (and evidently even those don't play now but feel they have to hang around the forums like the proverbial bad smell) and force that player to not only use all his free Arxs but buy millions of dollars (pounds, shekels, rubees, whatever) of Arxs to purchase every bobblehead, every paintjob, both individual and in packs, every ship kit, ever decal, every bit of fluff. ALL OF IT.

We don't have a choice, the evil FD Mind Control is now at work, today ED Fluff, tomorrow the WORLD (or fluff for their other games, even if you don't have them YET)

Nope, all you can do is filter by ship and 'colour' - where the colour filter simply seems to search for the text string only (say, if you filter "gold", it'll display the Gold Operator paint, which is largely black, and the Gold is more of a yellow/orange tone), at least based on my experience.

I've raised the barebones nature of the webstore on here before but based on some replies in the relevant thread it seems it's "good enough, be glad we got one at all" for most other players so I guess that's that.

Filtering and sorting by other options would definitely be welcome, particularly by price - if you want to see what items are covered by your current Arx balance for example - or "recently added" or "on sale" items (not sure on the latter if there's a sale section when they occur though, we'll find out soon I guess). The highlights section doesn't seem to cover that many items and it also shows older stuff so I don't find it very useful at all.

These are things we'd normally be taking for granted on pretty much all other webstores out there, but for some reason FDev isn't able or willing to provide these QoL aspects. Makes finding stuff to buy much more of a pain than it should be, and depending on one's patience leads to lost sales as customers may just give up browsing unless they already know exactly what they want beforehand.

Outside your head there's no link between being able to buy pretend spaceship paint with ARX or without (as was always the plan) and being attacked in your own home by a successful game developer.

If you genuinely live in constant fear of the nut based wrath of the DBOBE you should probably see a doctor.

I’m still giggling at the thought of full grown men flipping out about fake currency across the UK. The tea kettle boiling over as they slam “COWS TO THE SLAUGHTER” into the keyboard
It is a great illustration of how different folk interpret things. Some are 'ok, that works' others scream 'Witch' and demand it is burned at the stake... With moderate reactions aplenty too.
There are so many topics on the forum that cause me a wry smile, particularly when those active in the debate appear to forget it is a game with many facets :)

I've always thought the cosmetics are over priced, but the ARX pushes that over a line. If most things were much cheaper I get the impression that I'd buy more of them. £2-3 is throwaway territory. £10 is not. But while in 6 months I might not spend £10 ever, I might drop 3 or 4 £2 to £3 purchases a bit at a time. I'm ok with buying a redbull and a wispa gold when I get my fuel most weeks, but I'll avoid a £10 haircut and do it my damn self.

TLDR: I think they would sell more cosmetics if they marketed them at cheap / tight people who don't part with cash easily.

Luckily for those of us who don't buy cosmetics (at the current or any price) we have freebies. Can't get a better deal than that.

People are complaining about cosmetic DLC on Space Engineers forums, and I have to chuckle because you get WAY more bang for your buck in SE than you do in ED (not to mention you can paint your ship any color you want in SE for free).

But I'll not complain about Arx or cosmetics in ED, because cosmetics are 100% optional. If you don't like how it's implemented (Arx), don't buy them. If the "cows" buy them, rejoice, as that's more money to pay for improvements to ED!

Never liked the look of that, bit too Minecraft for me like NMS. What's the flight model like ?.

The game looks a bit too Minecraft to me as well, though it's getting better with "not cubes" pieces being added, and more gifted designers than I have made some pretty nice looking ships. It plays much more like ED than NMS. You have 6DoF with the equivalent of FA-on and FA-off, and the actual flight model is based on ship's mass, center-of-gravity, thrust available for each axis, and gyroscopes. I actually find the flight model more realistic than ED, but I've never tried SE with something like a HOTAS (I've been flying K&M so far), so ED may still beat it in this regards.

Combat is both amazing and lacking relative to ED. The damage model is far superior, and in survival mode loss of a ship is a big deal (no rebuy), but weapons are very limited compared to ED. There are mods for things like shields, lasers, railguns, etc. I haven't tried any weapons mods yet, just the shields, so that might completely change the game. I've had great fun doing combat with the stock missiles and multicannons, though I've only done combat in creative mode so far. I actually made a Vulture in SE using the blueprints!

ED is still better than SE at many things, but SE is a great space game, and in my opinion it's way better than NMS and Minecraft. I love the building aspect of the game in survival mode, but you can download ships from the workshop in creative mode and never have to build anything to enjoy the game.

Ah those bullet points. I did have a chuckle at them and then forgot all about them, I admit.

I wouldn't consider any of them particularly difficult challenges to overcome for a reasonably successful software company.
But you have failed to address them. You have failed to make an argument as to why those points aren't more impactful than making a minute fraction of players stop complaining about packed skins.

You continue to respond with vague nonsense. Do you think that just putting some words in a post makes it an argument? It's just you making noise.
