The ARX Bamboozle - Cows to the Slaughter

It's Sunday you're ranting a day to early, my ranting always started at Monday morning when I had to get out of bed early.

Oh and op, calling people cows going to the slaughterhouse wont get you much upvotes imho.
Maybe not, but pointing it out will get you one!

Some situations require tough love 👨‍👦

Whales will buy all the rubbish, FD will not have to make any effort to relieve them of cash. It's a win for FD and a loss for the game; they don't have to fund content, enuf whales keep throwing wallets at them.

It's because Elite is a niche game. Its not a battlefront 2 or call of duty. Its not going to get scrutinised for monitization unlike EA or Activision. And elite is mostly played by old dudes who could give two cents that fdev is slowly screwing them over.

The elderly are the ones who are targeted by scammers the most because they are easy prey. According to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the most frequently targeted segment of the population by scammers is considered to also be the most naive. Unfortunately, the elderly are frequently targeted because they tend to be lonely, willing to listen, and are more trusting than younger individuals.

This whole ARX thing is starting to make more sense.

So if not for the increased transparency, then for the love of GOD do it for the elderly.

Its not that bad. If you can get over having to have the new one now you can earn the basic cosmetics at great progression for nothing now. Sure we all get a flashy one, but for an experienced player and a new account at least (me atm) you spent much, much less than you would otherwise. One lot of the cheapest pack and they're really going to have to earn it before you give them any money ever again.

Its almost like they gave up on the mountains share of long term revenue for $1-2 more upfront for the more expensive items (ie, things that require the bigger arx bundles.. anything within the range of the cheapest one is heaps cheaper than before if you pick the right things).

Who gives a rats ARX about providing meaningful game expanding content when a simple skin/cosmetic pack would suffice. When I look at titles like No Mans Sky and Warframe who have expanded their game content immensely and for free, I shake my head. Especially since frontier recently got nominated for the "best EVOLVING GAME" award. That is the biggest load of utter shilling I've ever seen.

I'm asking that we know what we are paying for something in real currency through the store.
I'm with you on this one.
I prefer real money prices than the obfuscated Arx business. I know Arx is here to stay, as much as I don't like it, but in all honesty, the odds of me buying any is very close to 0. Unless they start pumping out some AAAAAA Grade quality paint jobs, that's not going to happen. And looking at what the last 11 months of paintjobs have been like...

I find it highly amusing that people complain about arx. Not for the reasons you might think, but because they are basically all saying it was fine when I spent my money on things that should have been included in the game but im not spending my money on money to buy things that should have been included in the game. Paint jobs should never have been a real-world, cash transaction. They should have been mission rewards, ingame unlocks etc etc. For me, there was zero chance i would spend money on paintjobs before, the price is irrelevant. Now that they cost electronic tokens I can very slowly earn in game, I can have shiny things though, so yay me. I'm very close to getting one that I want.

Sucks to be you guys though. But yeah, keep spending. And (and I really do mean this sincerely), thanks for keeping the game running :)

+1 for keeping it real. Like kids these days who never experienced computing technology that didn't want to eat your privacy. Was like that for years until... the cows came in.

It was either that or subscription.
Indeed, I am aware of that. That's why I offered my thanks but I would have paid the subscription.

Back in the days when apps were called programmes, a blog was called a webpage and social media was a distant nightmare!
