The "average players" piloting skills = ROTFL!

no quick mission generator to practice flight/fight scenarios and no in game track recording...so no means of analysing your fights to ID your mistakes and weaknesses...

That's something I'm really missing too, I'd like to be able to create quick scenarios using one of my actual builds just to practice different combat situations.

I'm having totally enough of those whinning threads all over the forum about 2.1 AI being so hard (and that the OP will leave the game - as dozens of his friends ofcourse - if Frontier wont "fix" this! - LMFAO!!!).

Watching many of the YouTube gameplay vids I see only very few showing what does it mean to pilot an Elite's realm spaceships like a pro. I might not have the 200 mils worth baby under my sticks, but after almost 1,5 year of my gameplay think I know thing or two about DOGFIGHTING by now. Even so I'm not even "Dangerous" rank yet!!

Because of above I'd like to show some of those lazy "average players" what does it mean to MOVE & POSITION YOUR SHIP AGAINST YOUR ENEMIES in the void. There are few very nice videos about it out there (Vindicator Jones' ones are my favorite), so I'm not aiming for such a detailed great explanations, I just plan to show off few minutes of my very own casual combat gameplay showing how AWARE PILOTING SKILLS differs from what I believe "average players" thinks of.

With this maybe just few of them will think twice before posting their pathetic whining about "the game being too hard for casual players" and realize how amazingly the game is designed and how well it respects and rewards your piloting skills (if you have any!!!).

Though, if any one of you Commanders would be so kind to point me out an efficient (the less CPU demanding the better) software to record a gameplay video, I'd be much appreciated. I can ofcourse buy the software for its full prize.

...and ofcourse if you'd like to share your very own fights you're being proud of, please share a vid in this threaf as well!:)

In meantime -- fly dangerously out there Commanders!!! :D

Unfortunately I cant - rep you, but you deserve it, if any!!
Don not have thet attitude to your fellow Cmdr's, they are not all aces and if they voice concern here on forums it is legitimate untill proven otherwise.
You can hardly blame Cmdr's that FD have for a long time chosen AI to be and then suddenly its all ÛBER...
And wit heavily modded weapons too....
Some may actually whine , but what I have read is that a lot of people have had a rude awakening. It is not of us that can laugh off a loss of 30 Mill. credits and have another go. Do show some respect and empathy

Cheers Cmdr's

You are very right. I'm sorry for the tone of my post.

Somebody apologized. On an internet forum. Have some rep for this. (from an average at best pilot who still enjoys 2.1 so far )

Hmm .. does not compute? Can anyone explain to me what these words mean? I've never seen them before here.

Cheers CMDR! :)

I agree especially if with here you mean the internet.

Despite what I perceive as a slightly condescending tone from OP, I would like to contribute something.

Edit: Saw the apology, so I will now start with: I don't agree with you, have you considered the following?

Where to begin? Game balance.
ED has several different roles that a player can take on. Some of them are of course very combat focused. Some are not. The game needs to balance all these roles.
Even if you could fly rings around the AI in a dedicated combat ship, it would not necessarily mean that the AI is too easy or too hard for that matter.

To balance something you have to give every action a counter action, and you have to do that for all the different roles. This is difficult game design and it just gets harder the more activities and roles you introduce into the game.
Now FDEV have already stated that they didn't get it quite right with 2.1. Some of this was because of bugs, some for other reasons not directly related to the upgraded combat AI (aggression level of NPC's, serial interdictions, NPC wing size and behaviour and so on.)

So if you find the the current situation just right or too easy, that is your opinion based on your role in game and your play style, and not necessarily related to good game balance. I'm sure traders, even those flying armed trading ships, who have absolutely no chance of escaping from serial interdictions disagree with you. Their focus is not combat, but self defence and escape. I agree that it should be hard and that a trader shouldn't escape "every" time, but instant death (as we saw last weekend, but now hopefully fixed)) is going a bit too far in my opinion.

Very much looking forward to see what this latest update has brought to the table, and very happy that the balancing has been done without changing the actual combat AI.

That's strange bc I suck at both and have only died 3 times since 2.1 hit. Not trying to have a dig on you just trying to understand where the totally different experience comes from.

Reaction speed? Ability to think my way around the combat? We are all different.

skills? [haha] let me be frank here, of all flight skills that I've seen from fellow cmdrs, there is only one person to which I can gladly raise my hat and give salute for his skills, you may probably able to guess who he is, yes the one and only Grandmaster CMDR Isinona.

don't even talk about skills if you have no idea whom I'm talking about before this post.

In fact, I can go as far as to say that if you don't fly the way he fly, you have zero skills, because that's what real skills is in this game, while on the other hand... just simply being able to point the nose of your ship to the enemies and being an adept at playing pip management and also spamming chaffs and shield cells = kiddie skills, no matter how much you bested your foe in combat.

This forum has really gone down hill lately. derision, abuse, personal attacks are now common place. With all due respect Ian as a moderator I would have thought you would discourage such behaviour.

Ah well.

You are very right. I'm sorry for the tone of my post. Will tone it down now.

And thank you for your input so far Commanders. The actual GPU of mine is ASUS NVIDIA GTX 660.

Sometimes, less is more :)

I just did my walk Ian;) I'm sorry and promisse I'll improve myself for future.

:D

You still have to back it up with video's you know :)

I wiped my save when v2.1 came out and I'm loving the new AI. It used to be an easy kill, but no longer.

I've only died once since then and that was my first encounter with the new de-nurfed missiles. Since then I've added Point Defence to my ship (ECM doesn't seem to work). I haven't died since, though I have staggered into a station with only 6% hull a couple of times. Like the song says "you've got to know when to walk away and know when to run".

Learning when to run is an idea many of the whiners don't seem to have grasped yet.
