Well we've reached the halfway point of the race and we've now had 50 submissions. I normally remove the ?? on a Wednesday, but things are so tantalising I think I'll keep them for another day at least :)

We'll start with Unlimited where there were a few ship changes. Shockbait decided that they would swap out the Type-7 for a Mamba, adding a new ship class to the table. They learnt very quickly that it doesn't exactly steer very well and they also had a far greater worry to contend with. Cockpit Cat! Who tried to sabotage one of the landings and caused massive hull damage. Fortunately the ship made it round in one piece and it was an improvement too knocking off a couple of minutes. We also had Tobias, who swapped to the DBX and managed to knock off a bit more time too moving tantalisingly close to Edelgard. Sir Boundness also managed to knock another minute off of their time. Adding yet another ship class to the fray is the first appearance of an Imperial Courier, and Epaphus' first appearance too. He did manage to make it in front of Edelgard pushing up into the 19 minute bracket.

We have one last entry in Unlimited and it's Cmdr Bruski, who decided that he would also fly an Asp Scout around the course and on his first run managed to nail everything. He puts the success down to a new colour scheme he's sporting inside the ship. And shouts out Coach Z and their Purple and Orange EDHM scheme (I mean it is Purple, so it is the best). He is the first pilot to break the 18 minute barrier and pushes into the 17s.

On to Regulation where we had a few new entries and a lot of improvements. We had Edelgard moving themselves much closer to Alec but still staying in that 24 minute bracket, however the improvement was crucial because behind it was all change. Sulu also had a big improvement knocking a minute off of his time and would have been ahead of Edelgard. But again the improvement was vital because the first of the new entries was Epaphus who slotted his Cobra around the course into the 25 minute bracket filling the spot vacated by Sulu. Our next new entry didn't do initially as well in Regulation as he did in Unlimited, but Bruski still managed to get the Cobra around in under 25 minutes. There was some discussion among the judging panel (my head) as to whether any time should be docked for the disparaging way he spoke about the Cobra in the race comments... But I have decided to let it slide. This time...

The final new entry was from Kevin The Stabber, and it's time for the Rizla once again as virtually taking the paint off of Sulu's ship he managed to slot himself into fourth place and yet another sub 25 minute run. In the race for the podium places, Alec managed to put some more time between himself and Edelgard and draw closer to Sgurr, breaking the 24 minute barrier.

So now in addition to the 4 positions separated by less than 30 seconds in Unlimited. We have 4 positions separated by less than 30 seconds in Regulation!

Amazing flying everyone.

Regulation run submitted. Yeah, it's not very good :ROFLMAO:
@Ozric hopefully the piccys are in the right order for you :)

Hope you all don't mind me putting this in...changed the Cobra's name to Lionheart Eyes, as a salute to my 15yo nephew who has just been diagnosed with cancer and starts chemo today. He doesn't play ED but he's a gamer and a fellow geek and whilst he's going to make it, the ride is going to be rough. o7 big little dude!

Catching up on the thread a bit. Never know what to say about things like that, because "thoughs and prayers" always seems a cliche response. Still, here's wishing all the best in his fight!

Seamless update to leaderboards done to correct the positions in Unlimited.

Run submitted for Regulation. Was putting it off, because my goal was to make a sub-25 minute run, but it's already Wednesday, and I'm starting to sacrifice exercise time so... yeah. :) Time to switch over to Unlimited and get my name on that board!
At least you're exercising your hand/eye coordination skills with this :) You're also exercising your patience levels :D But I get what you mean.

The fruits of tonight's unlimited run attempts have been submitted. Right now I'm debating whether it's possible to tune up my ship to get enough range to trim one jump off my route. If I can do that, getting into the 18:?? club is a possibility.

I'm also shaking my head at how wide the gap between my first run using this ship, and my best run. I think my last Regulation run was faster! 😱

Yeah, this race can provide you with lots of room for improvement...
I would have to cut about two thirds off my first run to get to a competetive time...

Three Cobra runs today (before the server reboot). I initially dismissed them all as being slower than my pb (based on the filesize of the resultant videos, which is usually a surprisingly accurate indicator) and said as much to @Arrowroot 66 who was also doing regulation runs this morning. Figured I'd probably hit my ceiling on this race.

However, thank god I decided to just double check their actual times before deleting them because ... well, let's just say ... regulation run submitted.

Also o7 to @CMDR Timber McWolf who logged in 15 minutes before the server reboot ... I hope you managed to squeeze in a blindingly fast run in that window!

Finally! After 3 days of cursing and screaming at the screen I managed to drag the Cobra around the course with a somewhat better time, only to nearly screw it up on the final landing. At least I know where there's some easy gains to be made there, if only I can make them! So new run submitted, and I'm hopeful again there's a better one in me.

Good to see Alec on the course, and I didn't dare switch to Unlimited because it would have been embarrassing to see him going faster in his Cobra! :D And another o7 to @CMDR Timber McWolf who was hurtling out and away from Kuchner as I was hurtling in. :)

I've had to so something this morning I wanted to avoid doing, cause it makes it a bit more hassle for me :D But the reasoning shall become clear later. We're going to start in Unlimited today because only one of the eight entries were in that class. And that was a new entry from Cmdr. Stevenson flying the Hauler, and adding yet another ship class to the growing list. Breaking into the top ten on the first attempt, it's a very nice solid start to her Unlimited assault.

You can also now see the times in all their glory. Bruski has a 30 second lead and Alec and Sgurr are only separated by 1 second!

In Regulation there was action all across the board. First up again we have Cmdr. Stevenson and although Inga felt she was too aggressive on the landings they still managed to break the 25 minute barrier which was the goal. In fact just over two minutes was knocked off the time moving her a few places up the leaderboard. Next up FearlessF21, who also made a huge improvement, knocking off a minute and a half to also bump up a couple of places. Then an improvement from Sir Boundness, who says it maybe but it's nothing beauty. Maybe not but it's another improvement of over a minute, and bodes well for getting close to that 25 minute barrier.
Next up is a new entry from Sinister Hedgehog. Unlike their trial run yesterday they managed to avoid smashing into ships on the way through the mailslot, and that helped them get around the course in 25:27. Tantalisingly close to 10th place and also breaking the 25 minute barrier. But it's only good enough for 11th because as well as the improvement from Inga, we also had another minute and a half improvement, this time from Arrowroot66 who despite the curse of not having the landing gear deployed at the final stop (which is one of the most frustrating feelings) was still a big improvement, shame it's just outside of 25 minutes.

And the last two entries saw some changes near the top of the board. First up we had a improvement from Kevin The Stabber knocking off about 30 seconds which considering how close the top of the leaderboard was, was enough to push him from fourth up to second place with a time of 23:48.
That had pushed Mr. Turner down to third place, but he also had submitted a new run. As he intimated above he thought initially the run was slower than his previous best, but on double checking he realised it was actually 9 seconds quicker. Worth submitting isn't it? Definitely as it gave him a time of 23:48.

So we have a tie for second place on the leaderboard! And Edelgard now finds himself in fourth place. We're coming into the home stretch now, what more twists and turns await...

That would have been hell of an improvement... And would have shaken the leader board in its foundations - at least for today... 🤣 o7

And another o7 to @CMDR Timber McWolf who was hurtling out and away from Kuchner as I was hurtling in.
I was so focused on where I was flying that I didn't notice anything of my surroundings until my copilot told me about the request... At which point I was already hurtling towards Laming Orbital, the final destination of my test run, thanks to the server reboot. Just made it onto the landing pad grant the request and log out before the time ran out. 😊 o7
