The bugs.

You are the one bringing up the term "MMO". I didn't, because I don't think of Elite as MMO either — so whether you like it or not, we are in full agreement on that.

But the simple fact is that they are both games that receive constant updates over the years — Updates which break existing stuff.

MMO = massive multiplayer online. Seems ti describe ED perfectly to me.....

I am stumped by the neglect Fdev demonstrates regarding bug fixing.
I've said it before in another thread that in my time as gamer since the late seventies I have rarely seen a game with such poor support on bugs.
The beyond series was meant to upgrade the core gameplay, imho bugfixing is a huge part of that, instead, many new bugs were presented and old ones re-appeared, only a few of them were addressed.
Also the frequency of patches is abysmal, only when there's a content update a bit higher number of bugs are being addressed and one or two small patches afterwards.

Imho to keep the quality of a game high you need to be on top of bug fixing.
I'm not sure but even the landing gear of the Mamba hasn't been fixed yet, right?

The way I see it is that almost everything gets only so much attention, content and features are only partially developed and bugs only get so much fixing.
Then Fdev thinks it's good to introduce something new again and the whole cycle starts all over again.

My thoughts exactly. So much this ^

I'll accept that :)

The problem (for me) is that in comparison to ESO, Elite is a midget. There is no way we should see continual failed releases. and so many ongoing bugs. Especially from a team of 100+.

let's break it down a bit..

Elite;
BGS. Simple DB stuff. Still buggy after months
Missions. Again, simple DB coding, a bust from the get-go.
The galaxy, procedurally generated and while complex, was mostly there since 1984.
Exploration. Simplicity made difficult and buggy.
Thargoids, mess in a USS.
MMO implementation. Dismal failure.
Multicrew is a half-bottom attempt and bugged.
Engineers. More DB coding and a whole heap of grind.
Planets (landing) same same same same.

At this stage, Elite is just a cash cow. It looks great but is let down by the lack of content. And the content [sic] that is there, is a dismal failure, barely standing in testament to a failed design and development.

In comparison ESO, while I agree has many bugs, also has thousands times more content.

As for MMO; the marketting heads at FDev labelled it an MMO. Maybe they meant Massive Missed Opportunity?

Perhaps a little harsh but I'm hard pressed to disagree with any if it.
