Thanks for all your kind words There's really not a lot to it once you get the hang of a router. I just make sure I measure everything carefully and go at a reasonable pace. Patience and steady progress are the main ingredients.

After waking up with a stinking cold this morning, I struggled to get anything done. Feeling a little better now so have managed to cut the remaining side pieces for the side pods:



I'm going to make a start on the inlays for the outer pod faces next ...

Thanks and yes, I remember commenting what an immersive build it was sngerous. Truly great work , particularly given the time constraints as well! How are you getting on with it?

Finished beveling all the edges and routing out the insets for the materials to sit in:

The depth of the inlay for the wire mesh is about 2mmm whilst that for the rubber and artwork is around 7mm.

Thanks Enride, I've opted for a nice glass of port It's really satisfying to watch some basic shapes come to life as it's shaped. Looking forwards to starting the inlays which I may start ... tomorrow

I need to order the acrylic and the vinyl so sit behind the mesh. I still haven't decided on a colour yet - as much as I fancy a bright orange or something similar, I may stick with dark grey or possibly a blood red - not sure. I'm a bit obsessive when it comes to everything in the room matching.

Just trying to get a view on the HOTAS placement. The top of the throttle case should be level with the top of my knee to give a sense of placement. I will be raising the case slightly as it will sit on a platform.

Lol, no It was planned (see above)! Wasn't sure whether I'd be feeling up to it though. I'll likely spend this afternoon figuring out the artwork for the logo - simple is good, I'm going to go for CP-1 at this point ...

Also ordered some acrylic and will be buying some slightly dark/blood red vinyl to sit behind the mesh.

I found a nice font - Neuropol X. Artwork/logo will be simple - it looks more military that way imho. I may resize the font a fraction smaller:



It will be black rather than gray, naturally.

Edit: terminatahx looks to have a lovely vector logo for E: D. I may include that in the 'artwork' if he's happy to sent it to me.

It is! Even unpainted it looks superb, i know im repeating myself but you woodworking is amazing!
