I have a slightly lower spec than you and my PC runs the game fine so yours should be even better [big grin].

Your English is good don't worry about that, better than my French, or possibly even my English [rolleyes]

I bought the system outlined a few months back, with the idea that I would get RCTW. But now I just keep reading about people's complaints about it, and I see the constant updates and fixes. Because of personal time contraints, I have only really tried RCT3 and MS Flight Simulator X on this system. RCT3 runs beautifully and (after all these years) can finally build a park that takes up the whole play space with a few thousand peeps with the game on maxed settings. FSX is another story. It runs, but when I tried cranking all the settings to max, it hardly runs - crashes even. I figure it's either because it's an older game, and maybe there are compatlibilty issues - or the game is just too complex for its own good.

I could build a system (I had one I put together in 2007, which was fairly kicking at the time, that lasted until a few years ago), but right now my biggest obstacle is time due to personal family related issues. I just hope this new machine I have will handle PC.

are you using fsx steam edition? it works really well,p3d is the same platform as fsx but updated, i am a flight simmer as well

i had a 6700k system i built and sold the build because i hated it.i ended up building a new 4790k build at 4.6 ghz at 1.2v and my max cpu temp is 58c.32 gb of ddr3 2133 and a gtx 1070.i found out real quick newer generation doesn't always mean better. for anyone willing to get there hands a little dirty you can build a pretty fast computer yourself for a decent price.

Late April this year I got my 1st custom desktop PC for PC gaming. The 6700k runs my PC very fluid and fast, with the high 4Ghz base speed. It's also Intel's "6th gen" too, and it's a High End desktop processor according to tonnes of sources including notebookcheck. 16gb RAM is more than enough to run this game on maxed settings. Windows 10 task manager while playing my park with 4,200 people on 1920x1080 High settings, is only using 4GB of my 16GB RAM. I can play this game on 1080 High settings with mid 30s fps in a big detailed park. Even when I play this game, my CPU is only 85-92% utilized.

6th gen intel core i7-6700k
Sapphire Nitro AMD Radeon R9 390 (back plate version) 8GB GDDR5 @ 384GB/s bandwidth, 512-bit bus
Windows 10 Home
Corsair 300r windowed with Wi-Fi ac wireless networking
16GB DDR4 2400Mhz HyperX RAM
240GB Kingston Fury HyperX RAM (for OS and games) + 1TB 7200RPM Samsung HDD

Morning all, I would really appreciate some help on whether the following will work - really don't want to by a system that isn't up to spec...

- AMD X4 880K CPU
◾16GB 1600Mhz DDR3
◾AMD Radeon™ R9 380 4GB
◾120GB SSD + 1TB HDD
◾Gigabyte F2A78M-HD2 Motherboard
◾Windows 10

No, I'm not using the Steam edition. I've owned FSX for a long time, and it's for THAT game where I actually first heard about Steam. I wasn't sure if I would need to buy it again on Steam or not. Even if I already own it, do I need to buy it all over again? I'm still a bit lost with this Steam thing.

I wouldn't worry about FSX crashing your PC if it's the only thing that does: as you said before it's old software, especially the original boxed version. I'm not sure about the new Steam version eifher, I have the original version and it does have compatibility issues but there are fixes if you are interested. Feel free to PM about it if you want and I can try and help you out. I know I'm going off topic a bit here.

Hi all,

I am looking to get Planet Coaster before Alpha 3 is released on 23rd August. My laptop is quite old and has the following requirements but I can give it a full clean up/reboot if needed if there is any chance of it running. I would quite like to use this computer for Planet Coaster however if it is completely not possible can anyone recommend to me a fairly cheap laptop which will allow planet coaster to run smoothly as well as being used for apps such as Microsoft word and spaceclaim/techsoft 2d design for work purposes?

I know my pc is below the minimum requirements however I have read online that with some games you can get away with this and I was wondering if that was the case for my pc. My specifications are as follows:

System Model: Inspiron N5040
Processor: Intel Core I3 CPU M380 @2.53 GHz
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Memory(RAM): 4GB
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
Intel HD graphics.

I have a feeling that the RAM is the issue- is there anyway I am able to upgrade this if you think that the game will not work on my current specifications? I can always buy a graphics card if Intel HD graphics is not sufficient.
Thanks very much for all your help :)

^ It will struggle youll be lucky if you can play it on 720p low. I know because my hp laptop has a 6th gen i5 6200u 8GB RAM Intel HD graphics and playing it on 1080 low settings i get 1fps. Even the amd r7 m360 graphics card on my laptop is better than intel HD graphics. You really need a high end or better PC to run this game. I did buy a custom desktop pc early this year and id say its well worth the investment. Even my 6th gen i5 processor on my laptop was maxed out while playing this game.

The "Intel HD graphics" is the GPU in your system, and it is the real problem. The Ram could be increased most likely in a laptop or a desktop. In laptops you can't swap the graphics processor, in a desktop you can (normally). You have an Intel i3 which isn't the fastest, but I'd be more than happy to recommend your laptop or desktop to a nongaming family member -- I actually tried to get my grandparents to buy a laptop with these specifications.[up]

I don't think there are any "cheap" less than $500 laptops that can run Planet Coaster well. Your money goes so so much further on a desktop. As it is now in the Alpha a fast CPU is crucial, and a decently quick GPU is also needed. Fast CPUs are getting easier to get in laptops, but the GPUs are much harder to come by. Getting a Laptop that has a equivalent graphics horsepower to my recommended minimum of a desktop Nvidia GTX 960 requires, a laptop Nvidia 970M which only comes in the laptops that are nearing $1100 and higher. Other than the cost, many laptops also have the problem of poor cooling in the basic models, which causes the laptop to slow the CPU and GPU down because the cooling can't keep up.

Both AMD and NVIDIA have released new desktop GPUs that are more power efficient, and quicker, and these will be making their way into laptops in the coming months. I'm really looking forward to seeing how good the mobile 1060m and 1070m are.

What is your budget? Would you consider a desktop? Prebuilt, or would you be interested in building it yourself from parts?

Hello Rootsey92. That should be a nice gaming computer. My feeling is you'll be good to go for Planet Coaster.

A faster solution for a simulation game like Planet Coaster would be a computer built off the Intel i5 4690k, but that is another $130 minimum, and I can understand that there has to be budgets.

Hi,

I have a laptop with the following specs:
- Windows 8 64-bit
- Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz
- 8 GB RAM
- AMD Radeon HD 7600M Series graphics card

Hello Domi, thanks for checking in. I hope you had a good morning. It appears that the AMD 7600M is a lot slower than the recommended minimum of the Nvidia GTX 560. Here is a benchmark comparison site showing the approximate differences in speed.

Lol, thought it was not good, but seeing this difference with only the minimum requirements is actually hilarious :)
I don't think I will buy a new computer though, so I fear I won't be able to play this awesome looking game, unless I win the lottery :)

Hello,

I just upgraded my system, however, even on Medium I still only hover around 15FPS.
Here are my specs:

i7 5820k @3.30GHz
1070 GTX
32GB DDR4 RAM
Windows 7 64bit

This should do much better than 15FPS, especially on Medium, shouldn't it?

Cheers!
