The Challenger - The Pilot

There isnt anything wrong with the crusader

Except that it sacrifices a lot for the ability to carry an SLF. Then sacrifices even more if you actually bring an SLF. It's just at a bad spot. Without the Krait MK II around the Crusader would be useful, but the Krait MK II completely replaced it even before it was introduced.

I despise the krait. It it so boring, almost as boring as the anaconda

Depends how you outfit it. I quite enjoy my Crusader for base assaults. The SLF makes up in ship-to-ship combat what you lose fitting the mothership with dumbfires for bombarding surface installations.

Are there other ships that could do the job? Maybe. No real reason not to pick the Crusader for it, though. Plus, it’s visually the most attack helicopter-ish of all SLF-capable ships.

Uh. yea. It seems like that. But only because i somehow messed up the ship names when re-organizing my posting. My actual preference is the Challenger. I don't know how the Crusader remained in my posting. That ship actually is terrible. (I cut out that passage as it was too off topic, and somehow the name stayed... shame on me. )

So after the correction, it still cuts down to Chieftain or Challenger. They indeed are very similar ships. But i like the Challengers weapon layout more, due to a bit more versatility. Yet it's very much a matter of taste, the difference between the two ships is not huge.
I said as much in the first few minutes of my video.

And at that point, if there's such a small difference between the two ships, then measuring that kind of change would've been tedious and a bit boring. So....will it blend?

Yes, you did. And then you rated the ship to be bad due to be very similar to a ship you rated to be good. I guess it's how you see it. It's plenty of people around who go along the same line. But i consider it an unfair treatment. It's a good ship by itself.

Actually, I didn't.

That might be the impression you walked away with, but that's not something I actually said.

That's the timecode for the end synopsis. Watch it again.

Well, I appreciate that. Thank you, very much.

And it has a friggen coffee machine ….

Just a followup, watched a couple more of your excellent videos, you do seem to have a fixation on the Krait Mk II don't you lol

Again, great content, just wish the others would stop trying to appease everyone all the time and just be as honest as you are.

Well done mate, very well done.

Hmm, yea. Your conclusion was more along the line "it's useless because there are others". Which is kind of true when you already have the other ships. But if you enter this segment of ships, the Challenger is not a bad option. I mean, there's plenty of medium combat ships by now. But the Krait MK II and the Challenger are the only two medium ships i ever actually use for combat. (And yes, the Krait MK II wins out quite often. I just like having the SLF along. But that's a completely different story. )

So yea, it costs more than the Chieftain, but in my eyes it's worth the higher pricetag. I consider it a rather good ship on it's own right, despite of the bad "it's too similar to the Chieftain" many people give it. Thus I also disagree on the "kind of useless" conclusion.

In the end it depends on what you already have in your fleet. If you already have a ship for the intended role, it indeed won't do much for you. But if you just enter this segment of ships, it's a good choice and might then actually be the reason why the other ships in this field are of no interest to you.

Got it. Emotion, not fact. You like it cause you like it.

Like I said at the end of the Krait video; You should fly whatever you like. Whatever works best for you.

As long as it's a Krait...

The Krait has the virtue of being as endlessly versatile as the Python, but without the Python’s crippling dullness and brown interior.

Hey Pilot...great vid as always.

I've ignored the Alliance ships up to now so the vid gave me a good insight. I'd love you to cover all three in one vid, I'm curious about them but from appearances and not really knowing much about them, they seem to be the same ship with slightly different wing/thruster/sticking out bits.

Keep up the good work (y)

I have my Crusader for two days now and I'm still happy. Not using her for what she was designed for at all but maybe that's why she's so appealing.

Hope you make a sister review starring the Crusader The Pilot sir. Thx.

X.
