The Circumnavigation of Mercury

Sol, you're such a tease. First you give hints that you're just over the horizon, then you hide again.

Good morning, Mercury. Sol tantalisingly below the horizon. I don't doubt that I'll come over a rise some time soon and there it will be.

Ten-degree waypoint. 30 degrees remaining. 92% complete. Struggling on through the pain. I fell off a cliff and landed on a neck brace. Not quite at the "For God's sake look after our people" stage yet.

"Many sink down to the Underworld, but few return to the sunlit lands." (C.S.Lewis, The Silver Chair)

Sol 1 degree.png

At this time and location, Sol had an altitude of 1 degree above horizontal. I need no constellations to steer by any more. Sol will orient me after a spin.

The circumnavigation of Mercury: waypoint is (0,-131)

Watching this back, it illustrates a universal truth that you need to do a job twice; the first time you learn how to do it, and the second time you do it properly.
