Sounds like you are saying your group wasn't contacted to participate, so 10 controlling systems doesn't make you one of the 5 largest PMF groups.

Much Appreciated for the reply Zac.

There's a lot of head scratching about the ability and desirability of making the leap to a power.

As has been pointed out, this is an opportunity that will be offered to teams that are good at the tricky and largely covert BGS.
To take on the very public "weight of numbers" game of PowerPlay.

My next question is: can you clarify whether the top 5 teams have been contacted already?

How long will those teams hold a "right of refusal" before the second round of offers?

Then I would ask how many of these events are proposed and on what timeline?

Specificaly will there be another opportunity to Rise to Power before October?

1). Right now there is no confirmation that any powers will be lost. We're only confirming that a power will be gained from these efforts. However, it is certainly something that can happen but right now we have nothing to confirm. ;)

To be brutally honest, I am not satisfied with this response.

Powerplay requires an incredible commitment of time and effort from the players that participate in it. We should at least know where we stand and what the game rules are.

I would much prefer it if you could say whether the turmoil mechanic is in or not, give a date and then let the game run its course.

Jane Turner,

Can you show the influence of your faction on 15/04/2016?

Not all of them - we have several expansions with bugs, population and no stations. 1 without any access to data at all. Of the ones we can see we have 532 cumulative influence and have added 27 million in population controlled by our faction

+1

I also hope once the newest power is in the game, the other powers get the same attention too.

I'm assuming Sirius Corp is one of the top 5?

Not sure how I feel about this. Considering that Sirius is already represented by a power. And Sirius Corp exclusively controls many small, infrequently visited outer systems, that are both vastly easier to change and completely inconsequential for Powerplay

Actually it's a little more complicated than that. There are a number of factors to take into consideration and weighting.

I'm sorry the response isn't what you were looking for. We understand that people put a huge amount of effort into Powerplay and we will be respectful of that. However, right now we haven't said that a power will be removed, so it's not really possible to go into how that would happen if that makes sense.

do you have a list of the largest minor factions to share?

Also, is this to promote a minor faction, or a Player Minor Faction?
If its the former, is the Workers of Fan Gong big enough to be one of the largest 5?

It's to promote a PMF so we are only taking the player factions and adopted factions.

We don't have a full list to share but you will have the top 5 shortly (just finishing the final contacts). There is one group that have yet to be contacted who I will be emailing and then we can announce the top 5. And if any player groups feel they have been missed or want to be tripple checked we can do that.

Thanks for everyones patience.

Just to clarify: I think this has become an issue following Sandro's live stream in which he appeared to confirm that a power would be removed to make way for a new one.

Just wanted to point out why this has caused so many posts on the subject.

I am very positive about the ascension of a new power. It is going to be great for Powerplay in general, so I will leave this here and trust that you will provide information and clarification as soon as it is possible.

Any comment Sandro made was more leaks of information from his busy mind. Glean from that what you will. But it's not been "officially" said or started, or not, or... you know what I mean. :)

There's no technical reason to remove power, only if someone is ready to fall and no player will back it. I doubt FD will artificially make that decision.

Just for info, I've updated the primer to incorporate The Black Birds squadron.

Weirdly, another player group that hasn't really taken part in Powerplay :/

I think it's worth people thinking about how best to translate their faction to a Power. AA's approach here seems to me to be bang on: the power isn't Adle's Armada, it's Adle - who would become an NPC identity.

The minor faction AA doesn't need to change as far as I understand it, and would still be based in Eravate; but from an RP perspective gains a recognised NPC to be aligned to.

That, right there, is gold dust for the player factions I think :)

Take us, as an example (if we were pitching, which we're almost certainly not): we're based in the sticks out in Varati, a bazillion miles away (technical terms for 'lots' of course) from most interesting places. If it were us, we'd probably look to make Dr Arc the NPC, obviously, based out of wherever FD choose, but keep the Canonn faction. There'd almost certainly be no chance of linking the two up, but by splitting between the existing faction and NPC it can be made to work anyway.

If done right, it really is a huge opportunity - even just building the lore to get you to the point of the nomination comp.

And I'm certainly enjoying seeing the ideas flowing here :)

Because we all know Dr Arc luvz the RP....it was what he was always all about! All you need to do is go back to the first threadnaught or two and some of his posts and responses on that very subject to see just how much he luvz the RP. No doubt these have been enshrined in Canoon lore. ;-)

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Lol - yeah, although he more than approves of this current 'exile' in a cave; I'm sure he would be uneasy to say the least at PP 'immortalisation'. Got a backup plan for that, though - if it ever happens ;)

Not surprised at PMFs who haven't taken part in PP but who do want a shot at power status: some don't pledge because no existing power appeals.

Top 5 groups that qualify for the final "Rise to Power" event are (in no perticular order)...

Mercs of Mikunn [MoM]
Communism Interstellar [CI]
Social Eleu Progressive Party [SEPP]
Interstellar Communist Union [ICU] (different group to the one above)
Alliance Elite Diplomatic Corp [AEDC]

If anyone feels they're group might have been missed for whatever reason and would like me to check the list and confirm they are not top 5, then let me know ASAP.

Otherwise, it's wildcard entries which will be closing shortly.
