The Dangerous Games: The Rise to Power!

Numbers of people within any group is irrelevant in this game. Getting word out, getting people fired up for YOUR cause, is where the game is at!

A group half the size of the largest could win this, just because they play harder, work the meta better, and bring outside help to bear in a more effective manner.

Do not judge a group's effectiveness by their membership rolls...judge a group on their listings of pilots that feel affiliated with them!

No. Just the constant open bonus discussion permeating every single thread is about as interesting as the offline client discussion was at the end of beta.

There 4 Open vs. Groups vs. Solo threads. Everything has been said. Just not by everybody.

And after more than a year this same issue coming up everywhere is tedious.

Not sure how this relates at all to the Dangerous Games Rise to Power event I'm afraid. Offline client talk is way off topic.

Sandro has stated PP is adversarial PvP and spoke about weighting PP actions to Open Mode - this entire competition is about PP - so it's highly relevant whether or not this proposed change will be brought in in regards to the competition.

I would go even further than you and say I think the size of each group will have very little to do with the outcome.

All players will be able to help any PMF they want to, I imagine the vast majority of all the CG efforts will come from outside the actual player group memberships.

The Border Coalition seems miles in-front on the promotion/propaganda right now, with the video they have released.

Of course it might just get won by the Federal or Imperial wildcard entrants, because of the large number of generic Fed and Imp supporters.

Indeed. I have to say that I'm a little saddened that coalition groups are being allowed to officially form before the wildcard winner who will be at a massive disadvantage because groups are already rallying support to these coalitions before all of the competitors are announced.

My group is going up for the wildcard, so if we win will have to rally the support of the community in order to have a chance.

I think the coalitions are not just player groups offering support for one of the entrants, but they are all the entrants.
The lore and backstory of the Power (if they win) will incorporate all of them.

I'm very interested in seeing how this can possibly work for Galcop with all of its different groups

Maybe I missed something in how this will work.
Will there be multiple stages where the worst performing PMF is kicked out until it is down to 2 PMF competing against each other?

No 3 stages.

Wildcard pledges - This will give us 5 wildcards, voted for by the community which will mean all the other groups will be out.

Wildcard games - After this there will be 1 winner. Meaning another 4 groups will be out and available to decide who they support

Rise to Power - The final games which will mean that one person wins.

That's right if a coalition wins they will only be represented by one qualifying faction. Meaning that faction are then required to ensure they include all of the groups requests and any political bargains made as best as they can to keep the rest of their coalition happy afterwards and avoid angry mods of groups. ;)

THanks Zac.
Any reason you are having 5 Wildcard teams compete, but then 6 in the final round, and not 6 in both rounds?

Groups will rally support for their cause anyway. Groups will continue to support each other. What this does is form a pact between groups that in replacement of their support, they will grant them inclusion in the lore.

This is important because otherwise 3 groups could all run, take the slots and then lose their other slots and effectively only be against other groups.

Now you have the ability to forma coalition (before the events start - pledges) as long as you have a qualifying faction. For the wildcards thats a faction which has expended just once. This means that if you did for a coalition and you used your own faction as the qualifying faction then (if you won) you would speak to the developers about how that power would be created.

Wildcards are free to create a coalition also.

Obvioulsy when it comes to group politics people will be more interested in joining up with a group who has already qualified rather than one that has to fight off public votes and semi final playoffs as it were.

Honestly? No not really. Must have been on my mind when we had a "Top 5". Either way it saves Steve a little more work. I don’t think it's worth changing either way as I think rule changes should be avoided unless they are important and necessary

Great point Roybe, I should say Crimson State Group were up there in the top tiers of factions by the way. Another group who I've not heard who they're backing.

We're talking about the event and our participation. Currently waiting for things to crystalize a little more. You know us! Always there for the surprise!

Already formed months ago. I announced the Dukes bid for power play last april, and that was before Powerplay was even out!
