The Dead End's Circumnavigation Expedition

Hhhmmm... I may not make it... MY game crashed when trying to transfer some modules, and now it claims my save game is "corrupted"...

Hhhmm... The plot thickens...

I was thinking of streaming the pre-launch event, but because of rl stuff im not sure if im going to make it there at just 1600hrs IGT. But i'll try and if i make it, then there will be a stream. :)
Also, if someone wants to come and chat with me to the stream, we can use one of the Fleetcomm Discord talk channels.

I will put the info here when and if i will be streaming, stay tuned. ;)

Nevermind, managed to log in again. Was worried there for a while... It crashed when I transferred an engineered distributer, then told me I had a corrupt save file. Managed to log in again, and when I transfered my best FSD into the ship, the game crashed again, and wouldn't let me log in. In the end it seemed to work if I logged in in solo mode, so managed to lift off and now I'm at basecamp, so all good. I need to get some more engineered stuff into my ship, but I'm feeling a bit iffy about doing that now, I'll wait until after the launch, and will just catch up.

Yet a reminder:

Pre-launch meet event tonight at 1600hrs IGT. @Mitterrand Hollow, Epsilon Indi.
Meet will be in Fleetcomm private group.

Hello cmdrs.

Is there a consensus on whether fast or long is a better mod for the DSS?

I'm thinking fast as my gut feeling is that with long it won't make much difference if you are travelling towards the body at speed anyway and you travel faster the further you are from a large mass.

I'll have to give both a try with a quick trip out of the bubble.

Thanks

I prefer fast, because I can DSS stars on my way through a system. For scanning a whole system though, it's much less clear-cut. Being able to scan gas giants from 2,000 LS sounds really useful....

I've been using a G5 long range in my trip and I'm more than happy with it. I can scan some stars from up to 20,000 Ls away and GGs from up to 3,000 Ls away. For a slow turning ship like the Anaconda I'm using, the long range scanner is lovely and works for me very well. However, fast turning ships may benefit from a fast scanner better, although the long-distance scanning of stars is unbeatable.

OA made a throughout test, and while scanning a single body, it's about even. So I prefer fast scan as it gains advantage while scanning multiple bodies, like gas giant and its moons.

I was a tad late and could only see Macros and one or two others occasionally, jumped to supercruise to try and reset instance and lost connection (matchmaking) and now keep getting matchmaking error and can't get back in :(

It was a real struggle today. Just like the good old Distant World days ;)
OK it wasn't always that bad. Weekends are usually tougher for meet-ups...

this is what happened to me. I saw Macros, tried to setup discord then when I came back...gone. tried jumping out and back end and lost connection. This doesn't work the way i thought it would
