The Dead End's Circumnavigation Expedition

Well, may as well sign up as well. Actually thought you had started this quite some time ago, with how long it's been a channel on Fleetcom, heh. But, I was intending to go roam about after 2.4 drops, and no actual plans on where to go, so no harm in picking up a plan there. Not sure how often I'll make any meet ups though, weekends are work nights for me. Though I always ended up at the UK ones in DWE anyway, from being nocturnal. Heh. But will just have to see how that goes.

CMDR: Orciencor
Ship: Anaconda
Name: Arachnia (yes, she's coming out again, haven't flown her much since DWE, and I miss her.)
Range: ... not sure yet, I keep changing loadouts, and not sure how heavy that repair controller will be.
UTC Off: -6 (MST)

Although the loadout reminds me.. I will becoming out loaded with repair and refuel controllers (not sure how many limpets, but that's synth-able), so I guess once we're going, if either of those things are needed, I ought to be available for it.

I couldn't help it but to continue up, up, up... well. Now it stopped. Can't go higher. I'm shy 12 ly from being an even 2,000 ly from Sol.

HIP 62570 @ 1,988.77 ly from Sol. And I can't jump to any higher star. There probably are some somewhere, but not directly reachable from where I am. So I'm forced to retrace my steps.

My problem right now... I don't wanna leave... If I could build a base here, I would, and stay.

LOL, that's also the same system where I managed to get.

I'm EST, although not sure it applies much to me as I'm already set out :).

If anyone is looking for a bit of a challenge during the first part of the trip I've got one for you: make your way out to Arm's End.

It's quite the challenge; in total I used 139 FSD boosts and traveled around 14kly out there and back. I can provide the short route that I took back with the number of boosts that I used if anyone is interested (the numbers may be 1 or 2 larger as I may have forgotten to record a tick occasionally).

Sure, I'm always glad to take REAL challenges in exploration.

And I'm in.

Ship: Asp Explorer
Ship Name: Paddle to the Sea
Ship Number: GRN-04
Loadout: https://eddp.co/u/2UgB2Vmt (Although the fuel limpet controller will change to a repair limpet controller.)
Max (fuelled) range: 52.44ly
Timezone: Central Time, (UTC -5/6 North America)
Role(s): Exploration, relaxation and hull ratting.

I'm hoping to bump up my scanner, and maybe reduce some weight, but I think the odds of going from Novice to Dangerous to get on good terms with Lori Jameson before we leaver are actually pretty slim....

And if anyone finds a landable in excess of 5G on the trip, let me know -- Imma land it. :)

That Newsletter really did the trick... :D

Damn, at this rate we just might hit 100 cmdrs.. :p

A reminder; keep friending cmdrs from the roster, as it helps instancing at our base camps and meetups. :)

Re: 2.4 and Thargoids

Im still a bit intrigued about the idea of packing some kind of weapons onboard. I really think that we should have some kind of "task force" to protect the expedition?
As im most likely going to go with Annie, i can gladly sacrifice some of my jump range for protecting the fleet. It might also be that i will circumnavigate the whole trip without the need even to raise my hardpoints once... :D
But, better safe than sorry me thinks.

As soon as 2.4 drops and we know what weapons we need, i will look into some kind of defensive build for Annie. I was thinking i could go as low as 46ly with my range, so that gives me a good margin for weapon fitting.
And this is not only for Thargoids, remember that back in DWE we had protection also, never know whats gonna happen.. ;)

Anyone else want to join the protective forces? Im thinking of 4-10 cmdrs with good defensive weaponry onboard would suffice.

Welcome aboard, CMDRs!

As regards packing weapons on this trip I have three thoughts on this:

1. Current weaponry is useless against thargoids. FD have stated that.
2. I am taking 2 lightweight PAs with plasma slug mod. To fine tune fuel consumption and also as an incentive against any human attackers
3. Fighter bay: the other weapon system.

Yes, taking weapons depends on what kind of weaponry is required to take them out. Although im all in for having peaceful contact with them, IF we are to engage them at some point.
But as i said, i would like to keep some kind of protection along just in case. :)

Originally I had planned on speed as my main plan of defense, with taking a Clipper* or Orca*. That changed when I bought the Type 9*, but you have me thinking.... will speed even help with this new potential enemy? I even thought with a fighter bay I could at least sacrifice my crew member to get away if its absolutely necessary. I'm with you on this and may take some type of weapons, but this will require a different ship than the Type 9*. I will have to look to see where I am with parts and loadouts after 2.4 drops. I wonder how much I could stretch a Python* for this role...... or even a Vulture*......:x

* In no way am I implying that I will venture around the galaxy in any of these ships, as I can not decide which to take. :S

I wish to participate in this expedition, details are as following;

CMDR Name: Key-Lan

Ship: Diamondback Explorer
Name: Visionero (Visionary in Spanish)

I might as well get a G5 mod in my Asp Explorer to get dat speed but IDK if I should use DDT or CDT. ATM I'm more on the DDT side...

So apparently Leap of Faith is the right name - Out testing her setup on a little 13kly tourist mission and came across this gem.

Only 1300 ly out: 2 WW's, twin ELW's -and the inner 4 planets are all terraformable...I do like my class A's

There's still good stuff to find around the bubble.
