The Dead End's Circumnavigation Expedition

I've decided to change to Orca from Anaconda. It means that I can't take fighters, but it doesn't matter. Most of the time is spent on supercruise anyways and it's much more fun in Orca than in Anaconda. Even planetary exploration with Orca is more fun because it's speed and view. So yeah, here it is. The Blue Diver.

CMDR: #34 Quar Damek
Ship: Orca
Ship name: Blue Diver
Ship ID: MI-80E
Max range: 54.93ly

Coriolis - Blue Diver

There is a fuel limpet controller, but it's just a placeholder for repair limpet controller. Still on the edge between shields and the repair limpet controller.

54 LY? Wow... Orca's can jump...

If I could get 60LY out of my Asp X, I'd take it over the Anaconda with the SLF (The Asp is fun enough to fly), sadly, it won't get close. I've got 61.3 squeezed from my Anaconda, though, with SRV and SLF. That'll be 64.03 max, though I wish there were a smaller fighter bay...

Just when i "confirmed" taking Anaconda, you pull this stunt... Damn you. :D

If only the Asp were to have the jump range the DBX has :(

Good morning CMDR Raumkraut!
My pop out scan data shows in a fixed size scrollable window. How did you manage to increase the data box dimensions?

Cheers,
Vex

You need to use the Summary Panel rather than pop out the Scan panel if you want what Rudi has.

hello Vex! :)

exactly what ian666 said:
open a "Summary" panel with "configure scan display" with a time setting
if you disable everything else like "show description, show information" etc, you just get the scan info...

I use two summary panels seperately which works fine :)

Well, that's me just about done configuring.
7A scoop,
59.3LY FSD
Repair limpet controller (just in case)
Fuel transfer limpet controller (just in case). Limpets to be fabricobbled en-route from harvested mats.
2 X SRV's
2 X AFMU's
Cargo rack (64t)
Xeno scanner (you never know!)
No weapons at all, decided to drop the fighter bay, can't really see me using it once the novelty wears off.
Uprated my distributor so I can boost again, I just like being able to :)

Anaconda: Clansman

Very similar to my config.

I think I might be done. Just getting some wake scans to see if I can push the FSD just a tad more.

Skipping the mining lasers because of the boostable distributor.

With this very same FSD I could get my Asp jump to something like 57+ ly on fumes, but I just don't like the ship. :)

https://eddp.co/u/AxkHpvlK so I am thinking this I have left engineering off as of now because i have not bought yet, toying adding a hull repair limpet in one of the cargo slots incase of accidents.

Looks good, CMDR. A couple of suggestions:

  • I'd match the size of the AFMUs, 6A for both.
  • Decide whether or not you want to be able to boost, match Thrusters & Power Distributor in either case.

Accidents will happen :)

I believe the lightest PD and PP you can put in an Anaconda are 5D* and still boost though the PD will have to be modded.

*Ultralight Anacondas can use a 4D thruster with increased optimal mass but for all purposes, it's no practical.

Hello Commanders,
please sign me up to this great event! I'm looking forward to fly with you.
Commander: Vasquess
Ship: ASP Explorer
Ship Name: Calypso
Ship ID: JV-AX1
Max Jump: 51.43

thanks for the advice i shall go shopping tomorrow so boosting would be a 2 x 5D then. Fortunately i have The Dweller open so modding it is no problem :)

Dont know range yet as wip.

Ship: Annaconda
Name: Get Lost
ID: J13-DE

The Asp's fast scoop makes up for the range of the DBE when traveling. However, out on the fringes of the galaxy, range is more important than travel speed IMHO. The Asp is only marginally lower in jump range so it's not really a huge deal 98% of the time. That 2% though is why I fly my DBE instead of my Asp now though.

My thought on this... a good pilot trained in how to fly a DBX properly will fly it faster than an AspX. However, the AspX is easier to fly.

In the A* challenge, I've raced both the DBX and AspX, unengineered. The DBX was just a hair faster than the AspX - about 8-10 minutes faster out of a ~9hr race. That advantage likely increases with engineering, as the gap between jump ranges widens. That said, you have to know how to fly the DBX in order to minimize the effect of that slow fuel scoop on the overall time between jumps. Basically, in a DBX, you need to continue scooping for a couple of seconds beyond charging the FSD before you start to pull out of the star's corona.
