The Deep Space Support Array (DSSA) | A FleetComm Initiative

New day, new question:

If I order my Krait Phantom to a carrier I need to switch the FSD. So normally you need to build in a e.g. 5E FSD if you demount your 5A FSD. How does this work on carriers? Cause I can't buy a placeholder 5E FSD there to demount my 5A FSD.
At a normal outfitters, if you store a core module, you get an E-rated replacement, even if the station doesn't have any in stock for purchase.

I'd guess it works the same at a carrier?
might need testing.
i went ahead and tested it, as it might be asked again.

it works exactly the same as with a station.

which means @Martin Shepard, i guess your module storage is full.

Thanks for testing, so I can switch the modules even if I can't buy one there.

It only was a theoretical question cause I'm planning my next steps and didn't want to wait 100 hours+ for a ship to get to Beagle Point if I can't use it at the end.

Just thought I'd post an "end of the year" snapshot of the map:

Nice! :)
Can't check against older maps atm, maybe it's just older trotted routes between POIs, but it looks as there are already little spider web lines between DSSA Carriers!
Nice :)

I’ve been making my way from carrier to carrier, counter clockwise around Sag A*, from Four Corners towards Colonia myself. Not that I’ve been playing much ED over the holidays, thanks to working retail :(, and some recent releases and updates :) I’m planning on putting in some serious (for me) time over January, before work picks up again as we near our yearly inventory season.

It's pretty much the old routes, yeah. Based on POI visitor data, there is some regular traffic to all DSSA carriers, but not enough to make as clear lines as expeditions and medium/heavy traffic do. (We're talking about 1-3 first time visitors per week, most likely from various directions, versus tens or hundreds of Commanders following the same routes.) Various carriers have been placed in or around places that were already of interest, after all.

20th of January 3007 - Sagittarius Carina-Arm, Dryman's Hope, DSSA Kitty Corner

My plan was to cross from Perseus to Sagittarius Carina-Arm on Hanekura Shizukas old route from his speed circumnavigation almost 4 years ago. But as that would have been some backtracking from DSSA Cheetah Labs i decided to more or less cross directly. And it worked - there is some bottleneck! I quickly flew through that extra-patch of Hawkings Gap into Dryman's Hope, which isn't well explored at this side, and got carried away studying Peduncle Trees in a foggy icering ... no, you shouldn't try to accelerate their rotation by bumping them gently!

Luckily Kitty was around the Corner to take care of my hulldamage. The Carrier itself sits in a system with two peduncle tree colonies, and a ringed waterworld, which might once be terraformed. at a gas giant with water based life. Quite brizzling of life that place! Kitty Corner is a colourfull Nautilus Class, and the repair crew not only helped my Diamondbacks hull, but also handed me an improviced pot for a peduncle tree sample, which will sit next to my bonsai braintrees in my cockpit from today on.

5th of February 3007 - Dryman's Point, DSSA Dryman's Hope

DSSA Dryman's Hope provides a spectacular sight of the White dwarf - M-Class binary at entry, while from a bit more out you can watch the peculiar blending of water-like colours of stars in system, and the nebula as a backdrop. Quickly repairing the FSD - the luxury of a specialist doing so, not me fumbling with a dwindling stock of materials ... and then - onwards! I somewhere just made the crossing to be "north of magellan star" - which means, after the necessary detour of crossing between the arms, i'm slowly progressing again.

I am looking to go on a private expedition so I was scouting for suitable DSSA carriers to use.

Will Shinta's Respite [DSSA#111] ever make it out there? (Achilles's Altar) Ouchoxy XX-U d2-20

9th of february 3307 - Drymans point, DSSA Nostromo

Going from Dryman's Hope to Nostromo is quite a highway with the milkyway as a left hand guardrail. DSSA Nostrome is based in a system with two different kind of peduncle trees, along with pods, and its paint glows warm in the light of the local K-star. The crew tries to raise funds for a mail delivery of leathery eggs by buying Low Temperature Diamonds to be used as loan security at the bank of Zaonce... more as a team pet project i presume!

Just wanted to drop in here and thank you for this project. Having Fleet Carriers that are part of an organisation is very helpful.

I have just arrived at Beagle Point and docked my Anaconda, or what was left of it, at your carrier, DSSA Distant Worlds V2W - B5Z and boy did I need it.

I had passed through Colonia and Sag A without too much drama and headed out for Beagle Point. Last night I broke the golden rule of Exploration. Complacency will kill you faster than a fleet of Thargoids. Just 3k Light years from Beagle, I decided to lay up for the night on a planet. It was 1.00 am and I could hardly keep my eyes open but I wanted to finish a long day on solid ground. I went through a typical descent and levelled out at 200m for the landing. Gear down, Yeah I got this. Put some down thrusters on and took a look at the surrounding landscape. Luckily it was not a high G world and I had shields. Even so, the hull went crunch as it hit the surface and how it didn't break in two pieces I don't know.
I survived that one but it's a long way home (well, duh) and I had just used up my pot of luck. When I saw you had a carrier there I made straight for it and got the repairs I needed. Maybe I could have got that service at the others there but as this is a support network I chose it.

So, thank you. I see there are others scattered around the galaxy and it is good to know they are there.

Thank you for this great initiative!

Parked my DBX MAGION 001 on a Kamzel's FC at Beagle Point. I was really looking forward to take a hot tub and a regular bed, after sleeping on a bunk bed for over three months... Also my DBX was happy to get its hull and internals fixed.

I wish my DBX was able to mine some tritium to donate... Unfortunately, i do not have such capability... Is there any other way to donate anything? If I sell some explo data for example? is it of any help?

I sold some to say thank you as I had no cargo or means of getting any. I think it said they also get a cut of the bonus payment so that is great. A small price to pay for the help.
