The Elite Community(In My Experience)

if its reported, yes. Auto-censorship is so strict it filters out a near-endless stream of phrases which they cannot manually check or punish.
Also that such filters also double trips over itself when people write in other languages... if they just matches words or even just parts of words.
add to this creative alternative spellings like l33t sp3@k and other ways to convey UR msg. Lets see what horrors we might get with the future of AI chat moderation...

Nah, AI filtering can already be way, way better. FD just picked the cheapest, easiest, most mindless and least effective approach again. It doesnt filter what it needs to filter, and it filters piles of stuff it shouldn't.

But they can tick it off and pretend they did anything useful when PEGI asks about it. :)

"As a mild-mannered heterosexual gamer I find it hard to fathom how toxic some of these..."

:ROFLMAO:
OK, imagining the gaming space of the "quiet catholic gamer" made me smile. ;)
It must be some monk's cell out of Name of the Rose, but with the latest Alienware build on the desk.

The community here is pretty awesome (still an ugly bunch tho). I have been playing New World (give a year or 2 if you gonna try it, if it still exists), you want toxic spend 5 mins in New World or just go read the first forum post that pops up, but bring soap to wash out your eyes when you're done. Even at it most toxic forumite here isn't anywhere near as bad as them.

Except for Sir TJ, but we are all know who toxic they are.

On a personal note : HI EVERYBODY bad luck i didn't die, just stopped playing for a while (and i do not do the "ghost who posts" thing when i am not playing a game).

Oh and I 58 or 59 or something.

re: pvp. I got “ganked” by a crew at deciat (xbox) in my ax corvette. So they had one fellow in a dbx attacking me and the other three (?) were healing him.

after circling about a bit he just sat in front of my windshield and fired, while I tickled him with ax multicannon and gauss.

after a while, he stopped firing, and I got the message “out of ammo lol”

To which I responded “lol. that was fun!”

We then sort of shuffled off our separate ways.

Not sure if this counts as “having a fun community” but it sure made me laugh a lot.

Win, lose or draw, I like these random pvp encounters, they add a lot of spice to the game.

The best in game experience for me has been ax conflict zones with loads of other players. Really constructive and fun.

Good to see that the OP's naivety that this was a welcoming community was quickly corrected by the forum regulars.

The character traits and intelligence (ish!) Elite requires to be entertaining have that spin-off of also making the Elite universe that much friendlier.

Even when you're ganked, I agree!

So far, I have been playing ED for almost 2 years, sorry I did not discover it before that, I have only met nice and helpful players. Even the pirates I ran across invited me into a wing and we went off to fight in some random war. They shared multi-miliion wing missions with me, asking nothing in return.

I play mostly in open on xbox and can count on one hand the times encountered a player. Even the squadron I belong to, the members are hardly playing lately.

P.S. I am 53 soon to be 54. Been playing video games since the Apple IIe was new. It keeps me sane and sharp.

I'd say Elite is highly competitive: Community Goals and their rankings and rewards, BGS, Powerplay, Squadron Ranking, explo tagging, direct pvp combat.
That's very true! I didn't spend 62 hours in-game, in addition to my 54 hour work week during the Deliver Rare Goods for Duval CG just to come in second place. :ROFLMAO:

I love it here...
