Community Event / Creation The Elite Cryptic Crossword

I can't speak for everyone, but, for me, I wouldn't mind another clue.

I am clueless (pardon the pun)

Yes, please.

Only thing I can come up with is: Zen idiot guru
but that's obviously nonsense. :)

All my previous clues have been anagrams *winks theatrically*

You might need a permit!

Re-worded:
A savant's manner is confused when entering the home of a radical religious sect that believes in suffering as the key to salvation (3,5,4)

Your first answer is an anagram of "A Savants manner" so I would agree with that, I Think it should 3,7,5- no idea of the rest of the clue though

Hmmm...

Van Maanen's Star come's to mind, but too many letters...

Van Manic Star

One Manic Star

Once again I have managed to screw up the number of letters. Bloomin phone keypad.

You have it Zieman. Well done.

Van Maanen's Star (Gliese 35)

Frontier: Elite II (1993) and Frontier: First Encounters (1995), computer games written by David Braben et al. The Van Maanen's planetary system is the home of a radical religious sect that believes in suffering as the key to salvation. Mining is done without machines, and any surplus money that is not needed to satisfy basic requirements like oxygen, food and water is burned in a sacred ceremony. The system is only accessible with a special permit. Due to the banning of ordinary trade items, Van Maanen's is a haven for smugglers.

Yay!

Permit & religious sect rang a bell, Frontier / FFE memories kicking in. :)

Oo-kay, next (an easy one):

Möbius-strip-a-gonally: Might bite while bringing more to the mix (5)
