General / Off-Topic The Expanse TV Series discussion thread.

We (my partner and me) discovered this show by accident when browsing her Netflix library.

The funny thing: knowing only the books translated to German, I had no idea whatsoever that the show was based on the book series I love so much!
While watching the first episode, I went from: "Wow, this is an awesome setup!" to: "Hey, they really got inspired by the 'Leviathan' cyclus!" to "Wait, wait ... could it actually be the case ...?" and finally: "Whooo! YES! YES! It IS based on the books! How awesome is this!?!".
The difficult part was when my partner did forbid me to spoil anything with my kowledge from the books. Some blood must have dripped from my mouth because of me biting my tongue ...

Accordingly, I was so sad when I heared about the series being abandoned by SciFy channel. Learning about the continuation saved my day today!

About the changes: I am also sensitive to changes. However, I completely accept that a TV series has to simplify and tighten the plot.

Regarding the cast: I love, how they casted the belters! Finding all those tall and skinny actors must have been difficult!
The only character I am a little bit unsure is actually Amos. Am I wrong or isn't he described much larger, but with a deceptive soft "baby face" (and also bald)? Wes Chatham is muscular for sure, but more compact and too small. And his Amos definitely looks menacing and not deceptive at all ... ;)
But really, this is nothing but a very minor issue. (Or actually not an "issue" at all. More a mere thougth.)

Episode 10 just watched, fantastic.

For those who haven't read the books, the ending will be a bit of a cliffhanger as well.

This is one show to look forward to every week this season just like Colony and Into the Badlands. Expanse definitely nails it especially with more episodes left to go before the syfy breakup.
