You monster!

But, I tip my hat to the SDC today. The forums have been...

Call me Mr.Soft or Mr.Naïve but I had a wonderfull time yersteday evening.

As a player I didn't suffer any crash or connection loss . I didn't see the VIP but I felt being part of something. In my point of view it was very entertaining .
Drew is for me an efficient writer I have pleasure to read , and for me, to mix my game at heart since 1984 and a good story and being part of it , was great. Some kind of gamer dream if you may.
Cherry on the cake , nobody caught me and I even made 4M of rough explo data.
It was one of my first time in open and it convinced me so far.

As a character , mission failed. Neither I succeded in capturing Salomé nor I prevented the truth to spread out.
But what has been done has been done.
Now it's time to go forth. There are still mysteries ahead . Alien threat, inner tensions with a new martyr that may raise blood shedding riots to avange her and to dismiss the 3 superpowers leadership , unveil those who are behind the scene and 2 others deep space areas to search for.

To sum up , no salt on my side but a great thanks to Drew , Cor , all the rifters and the passionate players , and FD for at least , having made this story tangible and "real" .

Fly safe all . There are still many things to do (got a full explo ani to mod......)

The thing is ... if CoR tried to protect Salomé the way Raan did (by trusting nobody and insisting on hand-selected protectors) they would have been accused of blocking other players from participating. They already get accused enough of using a "privileged position" to "game the system" in their favor. CoR members can't seem to accomplish anything through their own critical thinking skills without being accused of using insider information that they kept from the rest of us.

If they had segregated the rest of the community, including PAC and SDC (who were acting as a part of PAC), CoR would face as much, if not more, criticism then what they are getting now for "letting" SDC murder Salomé.

I really don't envy the position that CoR are in. Hopefully, now that Salomé is gone, they can be allowed to be seen as just another player group and people can stop hating them just to hate them. EDIT: Not saying that YOU are hating on them HQ!
But are you really saying the cries of SDC for not being allowed in her protection detail rather than the multiple player groups who have been committed to her for a long time would have produced that?

I doubt it as excluding an obvious risk is not being exclusive, it's just common sense.

So the Graveyard isn't in ED but we still decoded the message from it..?

The Graveyard exist in the "Elite: Dangerous universe" ... it, like any other yet-to-be-implemented content, simply doesn't exist inside the game yet. We've been told that it's coming.

Personally (despite being opposed to her in the event) I'd be perfectly happy for her to still be alive. There's a shortage of interesting characters in this game (the PP ones are so one dimensional) so I tend to think there's a lot more value in her being alive (captured or crippled maybe?) than in her being dead.

Also, would be the third time, she rises from the dead. (As a quick anecdote for Star Trek Fans: William Shatner's Books about Kirk being revived with Borg nanites by the Romulans is actually pretty fun to read and not as littered with plotholes as i thought it would be - i actually liked them a lot more, than pretty much everything Star Trek over the last few years)

I'm hoping it was information on-board rather than a living Salome.
I love the character, but a big red-wedding style betrayal moments before victory is a great note for the book to go out on.

Doesn't have to be in the book - book can end like that. Story itself shouldn't.

Welcome to ED, mate. Buckle up, I doubt they've even started yet. :/

Now what do we do :)

Worry about what will push us out of the bubble.

PAC stuffed it up. The evidence suggests they are morons.

Back to the regularly scheduled program.

We know what: the mega-ship in the rift
We know why: Plan B for the rich and powerful incase of an alien invasion
We know how: The cold war between the superpowers is a decoy for building massive fleets of warships and to get resources for the preparation, 3 different locations for an exodus

We don't know who is responsible for all this.

We don't know why "they" didn't try to stop the revelation of those Dynasty exodus plan ships settlement thingies. Apparently a few decades ago even knowing about Dynastiy would have killed or hexedited you in no time.
Now "they" seem to "don't care".

Is this good or bad.

Is it just because the organizers of this Dynasty exodus plan got all the money they wanted and everybody involved realized that it was a really stupid plan.
OR
Is it because it doesn't matter anymore. The Dynasty plan didn't work out (apparently), the FSD technology allows humanity to find and go to habitable planets in a short period of time and a lot of ELWs have been found in the recent years. The threat is so close, that silencing anybody who knows about the Dynasty plans is just a wast of resources.

Again, who is responsible and does it matter?

I know, there seems to be no riddle and the lack of greek mythology is deafening - but that's all we got.

Keep searching!
Let's find out!
Keep calm!
Be motivated!

Where are Megaships 2 & 3?
Who? People? Organisations?
WHY???

Much to be learned.

Edit: The mystery is not over until there are no more questions.
There are still questions.

Sure ... but don't put all the blame on CoR. PAC was put together so that other groups could participate in the protection of Salomé. CoR had it's own discord to discuss their collaboration with Loren's Legion and others that were part of the group that would directly in-wing with her. I think somewhere along the way SDC managed to sneak into PAC and, very brilliantly, molded PAC into exactly the beast that they wanted them to be. You ridicule everyone who refuses to follow instructions ... until they either get in line or leave. Convince everyone that only certain builds, built for speed and not combat, are viable for PvP and then, on game day, execute order 66.

I can't not give SDC credit. In a scenario whose first, if not only, rule should have been "keep Harry Potter as far away as possible" SDC managed to stick him right dead center into the action.

I put no blame on CoR. Just PAC.
As far as SDC Vs PAC goes: Well done, SDC. You outsmarted a slightly stupid block of cheddar. Well done.

Good post, I think the salt mine over yesterday is way overdone. And the way it happened provides an excellent basis for Drew to finish his book.

What comes next matters. Give the scale of this impending alien invasion, I guess it will happen after 2.4 is released... but, until then we still need to find the hive/cave/motership in the unknown trailer.
