THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Random thought that is impractical but would be a lot of fun.

Restore the Zurara but instead of returning it to the bubble have it move every month to a new system somewhere in deep space. Before it moves it can drop a beacon with a clue as to where it went. Once found it would make a sort of respite for explorers while the monthly search would make it a sort of respite for rifters.

Yes there is - It is located at 34.3125 / -44 / -15.59375. (as per edsm) [up]

www.edsm.net/en/system/stations/id/7450/name/Moirai

Also notice that all the fates have their own system - Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos

hmmm interesting. I may have to take a peek

I'm still out in the Rift thinking there is yet something to find.....there is nothing dubious about my grip on sanity.

In hindsight... I may have meant doubtful rather than dubious [wacky]

I don't want a rifter faction, I don't want us to own a megaship. I want to revive the Zarara so there is a station/outpost in the Rift for explorers to use, and make it public that it IS out there. My original idea was to revive the ship as a megaship, as Canonn are getting, but not a new one. In light that it has outdated drive tech, and we'd need a formal organisation to run it, I have amended my initial idea. Others have run with this though and are now suggesting we get a brand new megaship or asteroid base. No no no, I say. This was an idea of something for us to do until new mystery's are woven into the game, and a fitting extension of the story and assets created for us.

This is the most ideal idea to me. We as a group wouldn't really be able to just retrofit this megaship with new drives or anything because we don't have that sort of organization or funding. If we were to revive the Zurara I would feel much happier with it not being able to move as opposed to slapping on FSDs that shouldn't really work with a ship that size.

Agreed to both. That said the idea of trying to tow it or move it to Tionisla as part of an ongoing investigation and as a memorial - and thumb in the eye of the Dark Powers(tm) - also has some potential for a CG as well. But I think the easiest approach is a CG (or two) to return the bodies/properly investigate the ship, and refit as an outpost where it sits, which allows the logs etc. to remain in place as part of the story (appropriately updated once it has been refitted and is "active" again, and if anything else is discovered). We could do a third CG for stocking the bar.

Meanwhile, I am ever so slowly poking around Col 70 with 46 Eridani as my starting point, with the aim of hopefully finding out something about the signal from (Luko's?) Cobra and the other radio traffic reported out there. Also may check out the mysterious Alliance outpost in California Sector.

But I must admit, my motivation is pretty low as we are back to wondering if there is actually anything to find in-game, or if we are back to the usual routine of just being strung along with little morsels of story until new content appears in the form of 2.4. I hate that.

As my previous post and it's replies were removed for reported violation, here is a sanitised version for those interested.

Children of Raxxla have removed my membership status due to inactivity and I am now an "ambassador" with virtually no access anymore to their Discord channels.

I thought that keeping in touch with members of their Concul, informing them of things from this thread, and defending them when they were getting a lot of hate would have meant something, but apparently I don't talk to them or play with them enough.

I'm pretty hurt at this, so I'm venting it here, one of the last two homes I have in this game.

Details
When I connected to CoR discord, I saw that almost every single channel I had access to yesterday have disappeared. After I questioned what had happened on the only channels I had access to, an UN-NAMED member of the CoR Concul PM'd me where we had a discussion over what happened.

Without publishing private messages or player names, I was basically told:

CoR are changing members status's based on activity and membership of other groups. As I'm quite active in several other groups but not as active in CoR I'd been demoted to Ambassador with no access rights anymore.
CoR don't read or value the rift thread anymore as it's full of hate towards them.
CoR don't want members who lurk and don't interact much.

a PUBLIC message told me:
"Yes. As you were not actively involved in CoR's activities, but is the person updating the Rifters thread, we think that the Ambassadors role is more suitable for you. However, if you want to become a full CoR member, you can consider to reapply again. But be warned that you have to contribute to CoR related discussions to stay a member."

So because of my level of activity on the Rift and Canonn threads, and membership of the Canonn PG - and that I've barely played Elite in the last couple of months, haven't spent my time discussing precious inside secrets on the CoR Discord or joined in with their activities, my presence in the group isn't valued.

I hardly think I'm a lurker. As soon as the Zurara idea was hatched, I was PM'ing members of the CoR Concul I know to get their thoughts on whether CoR are behind the idea, or it was contrary to any of CoR current plans. I watched the Live Stream of Salome's funeral. I've replied to questions where I've known the answer due to my knowledge of the Rift thread. I've linked CoR documents on the front page of the Rift thread. I defended CoR and dug out the truth when all the accusations started flying after the 29th event. All this while I'm taking a break from playing Elite!

But it seems that being a Rifter curator has made me persona non grata to CoR now.

Guess I need to make myself a new forum signature :(

When you quote the post in question the naming and shaming remains. Quoting the quote of the post propagated it. As part of cleanup, all were removed.

Apparently including my comments on Jeremy Corbyn with no quote of the original post in it. Funny that, and rather contrary to what you are saying the policy is.

I wasn't referring to the mods (for a change) ;-)

Yes, but the IMPORTANT thing is, do I lose the rep I got for posts which are now deleted? ;)

I keep telling you, it's all virtual anyways.

And more importantly, can we remember and recreate all the jokes? Not sure how Han Zen's post, for example, fell under any of those rules.
