Prism system.
Planet Chione. Surface pressure 6.72 atmospheres. "I figured the Imperials liked their comforts!" from the "Elite Reclamation Official guidebook". Comfort? Humans can't live on this planet.
Star Sapphire. Age 3,040 million years, B5V type. This star should have died 2 billion years ago.
Planet Eurcylea. Must be Eurycleia. Both variants presnet in Guidebook for some unknown reason.

Mistakes or clues?

Mistakes would be my guess. There are lots of similar uninhabitable Stellar Forge results for inhabited planets, or incorrect stellar characteristics, missing stars and the like. I would not read too much into it. The ages for the stars in the Pleiades are way off what they should be (and some stars are missing). Capitol was a water world until very recently. Etc., etc. ;-)

Yup. This is my understanding too. Shame really...

Hi LuckyLuke.

I've been busy with RL the last week or so too, so have not done the pass on your summary I was planning on doing. If you have a new first post draft written up I'd be happy to review that instead.

I also think the opening should be a big paragraph explaining in laymans terms what the Formidine mystery IS before plunging into lists of clues and known stuff. Make it more accessible to casual forum browsers so in a short paragraph they know what they are looking at.

Maybe Dommarraa would be interested in putting some words together as he has demonstrated a very level head and has been deeply involved with this from the start.

Good stuff. I've been equally busy. I see a few people have already taken the time to review my journal and left a lot of comments that I need to respond to, so that's great.

If I can find a couple of hours before the end of this week (tomorrow night should be OK), I'll put together the new OPs and flick it out to a couple of reviewers - probably Jaiotu, Dommarraa and yourself. If all is OK, and assuming you guys might want to add something to it, I'll then update and create the new thread. I already mentioned it to Agony Aunt so he's ready with the lock and direct button :D

From there, any further feedback or comments received in the thread can be applied to the OP as necessary.

Phew !! I think I need to win the lottery so I can retire and make this my full-time job instead :p

Tinfoil time I guess, as you folks put it :D

After coming back from my weeks holiday and reading some of the Elite Books, which I found made really good reading, Salome/Kahina seems to me to have 2 personalities, DID, or Dissociative identity disorder. As Kahina, she ended up becoming quite bossy, aloof, and seemed to suffer from illusions of grandeur. Whereas, as Salome, she seemed to be more stable, comfortable around other people and much easier to get on with. This might be due to her memory problems which can be related to DID.

Now however, after catching up on this thread, it seems as if her different types of characters seem to be merging, or... is Kahina beginning to break through. I don't know, but with Reclamation fresh in my mind, it is simply an observation. Kahina I didn't like at all, but Salome, I could relate to. Maybe she was just highly manipulative and chose her attitude depending on the circumstances what she wanted.

When she now reacts to us, what part of her personality is talking to us?

My take on this is that Salomé's personality was closer to her true self whilst her memory was lost - free from the decades of imperial brainwashing and mind games that Kahina had been subjected to. Then once she regained her memory, some of her previous 'Kahina' personality returned to the surface. However, she now had a new memory: one free from imperial entanglements. And this is the Salomé we know now. The one she ended up choosing to be :)

No one is as pompous as Salome, without putting on an act.
You need to line that cowboy hat with more tinfoil. She is getting to you.:p

Someone mentioned tinfoil... I was wondering if the dot-dot-dot in "... right on, Commander" could represent three systems or planets in alignment that could give us a plane or line for intersection with the RR line. During Kahina's visit to Mars/SOL in March 3301 there are (were? will be?) various planets in approximate alignment as one can check here: http://www.fourmilab.ch/cgi-bin/Solar. Maybe she didn't want to be late for observation? - There is nothing that really stands out though as far as I can see. Are there any other potential systems/planets to check?

I shall now undertake finding a new solution for Einstein's field equations. I figure my chances of getting somewhere there are about the same and a new space time metric may be just the thing that's missing here! :)

I haven't seen it posted anywhere on the thread so I guess I'll do it. Here's Drew's interview from The Dogg and Toad Podcast. It's three hours:

https://soundcloud.com/user-6806461...de-04-look-to-shadeward-with-guest-drew-wagar

Rift part starts at 1:59:00.

Among other things, Drew points to the significance of the names Kahina and Hassan, and hints that the names of the planets in the Prism system, while not being the answer to the mystery, can lead us on the right path.

Also, is it safe to assume we can cross POIs out of the list of things we should look out for?

What are all the planet's names in the Prism system... can you list them in order from the closest to furthest from the star as well?

The PRISM system planets are named after the autolycus family, save for autolycus himself whom is missing.
Interesting thing about that family tree is that there are 3 unknowns on it well according to the web anyway.
Any planets there with different names from the known family members?

I just uploaded a new Formidine Rift video after finally setting down at Jaques Station in Gliese 1269. I'm not sure where I'll be flying to next but I'll be taking a break from the Rift for a while. Possibly heading to SgrA* - it would be my first trip there in this save game (I've been there 3 previous times in other saves). My goal of reaching Elite in exploration still seems so far away.

Also, I do not know if it has been spotted by anyone before but here it is :

Kahina, the berber queen, was vanquished by Hassan Ibn en N'uman.

Coincidence... ?

And on that note her other names in that story are Dahiyah, Dahia, or Dhabba, dunno if that helps.
"on the eve of the final battle, the Kahina ordered her sons to go over to the enemy." and she was a quitter apparently
would be nice if this was a connection as it would take it somewhere other than the Greek myths, the Celtic legends are ripe for use as are some of the south american ones.

Tinfoil theory - start:

I looked on the names of Prism system bodies from different angle, you can say more scientific. Names of the stars are: Sapphire, Diamond, Prism and Ruby. Now lets assume, that Diamond represents white light, Sapphire blue light and Ruby red light. So, we have white light that comes through the prism and is refracted into variety of colors - the rainbow. Let's forget for a while, that there is violet, yellow, orange and other colors. We have blue and red color and form the standard RGB model we are missing the G - green color. Now what this could mean? A green star? There are no green stars in the universe, stars can look like green only through optical illusion - from wiki:

There a few stars in double or multiple star systems that appear greenish, even though they are really blue or white. This can happen if the star system contains a large red or orange star. An optical illusion causes things close to the red star to appear slightly greenish. The classical example is Antares B, the blue companion of the red supergiant Antares, and another example is the star system Almach.

Too common, to be of any significance in my opinion.

But if u put Green through ROT13, you get Terra - Earth. That's a nice coincidence isn't it?[big grin]

Tinfoil theory - end.

So listening to that podcast.... Salome has NOT been to this 'thing' we're all looking for. She is looking for it, just like the rest of us.

It's a story, it's not a POI that will be found and we will be done. So it's NOT just a system, or planet, or USS, or whatever.

Has anyone fully replicated what Salome has done and where she's been? in the order she's done it, 'in game'...

So back to reality,

In listening to a recent twitch stream with Drew it has reinforced a few of my beliefs:

1. We have over analyzed this to death, and have missed the subtle hints.
2. Logic can be used to solve the mystery, so faith in that has been restored. (doesn't mean it will be solved anytime soon, but it does apply.)
3. We are missing clues in the Galnet posts, including any and all relevant articles, freelance articles do not apply to this story in terms of clues/hints.
4. We might be missing some clues in the systems that are relevant to the story.
5. K.i.s.s, still very much applies.

And finally don't expect this to be solved anytime soon, it is a story line to be followed as it is unfolding before our very eyes. It's is not an (alien) treasure hunt. Someone may perfectly solve all of the clues given, and they may find the IT, however the understanding of what has been found could end up being even more confusing as the story hasn't been completed yet.

In solving the clue side of this mystery, we need to untangle the web, possibly from the very start. Find what we missed in the Galnet articles..

My thoughts exactly, and to add to this I don't believe Drew has seen or knows exactly what it is either. It's being fed to him by Frontier via clues to pass on. He's said multiple times that we've had to wait because Frontier hasn't told him anything to pass on. The biggest piece is the "depends on who goes looking for it" that's what we have to define first before we can truly pinpoint a course.
