The Formidine Rift - Part 2

Im sitting here, 30km from a black hole.

Love the sounds. I tried to jump behind it by 1000ly or so. It said destination target obscured. When you move around a bit, there is like a circle that fades and becomes solid from time to time depending on ship rotation. In the time where it is solid, there is a star dead centre. HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY TRIED REALLY, REALLY HARD TO FIND THAT STAR? Of course its not the same as many others.... But what if this is a "gateway?" we don't know about?

Not sure I follow you. Black holes can do things to your brains though... :)

[EDIT]: By the way, try jumping through the hole while rotating your ship... In Reclamation, if the ship was rotating while it jumped, it would cause a mis-jump. Have tried already, but didn't work, although through a black hole... Who knows...

Delmonte I'm fairly near that system. But of course I won't jump to it. If there's something there. Then you should be first :) I've added you so I can see where you are. No probs if you decline :D

Salome (opera)
Salome, Op. 54, is an opera in one act by Richard Strauss toa German libretto by the composer, based on Hedwig Lachmann's German translationof the French play Salomé by Oscar Wilde. Strauss dedicated the opera to hisfriend Sir Edgar Speyer. The opera is famous (at the time of its premiere, infamous) for its "Dance of the Seven Veils". The final scene isfrequently heard as a concert-piece for dramatic sopranos.

Strauss provided names for some of the leitmotifs, but notconsistently, and other people have assigned a variety of names. These namesoften illustrate the ambiguity of certain leitmotifs. For example, Gilman'slabels tend to be abstract (such as "Yearning", "Anger",and "Fear"), = Formidine = Fear in Latin!!!!

Nice tinfiol Monty!

When Newton made the Prism colour spectrum, he added orange and indigo to get seven colours. This was to match the seven notes in a scale.

Also, Kahina did go to a concert in London.

Link to ship in my original post. (Btw, was this post what ressurected the formidine explore? Or just coincidental timing?)

Coincidential timing. I might have more trouble than you with the Asp... The thing is that we are not even sure how far into the line whatever 'it' really is, so it's really a needle in a haystack. Interesting your reddit post, and the comment from Drew about the Epiloge. Although that passage is being studied quite strongly here as well...

Very intriguing. Has anything been found?

Has anyone visited the stations Kahina toured prior to her disappearance? I'm wondering if there's something in a local news article or mission that has been overlooked.

I'm out in the rift, so not easy for me to go back and check.

My first visit to the new thread... finally got a chance to look through the posts. I'm sure I've missed plenty as I've not read everything and skimmed a lot.

Looking at that phrase again: Good luck, and … right on, Commander.’

It does seem odd that the ellipsis has a space before and after... I've seen that noted in this thread. The extra space is actually there... I copied the phrase straight out of my Google Books version. Also interesting that the ellipsis divides the phrase leaving the same pattern on both sides: two word followed by a comma followed by one word. Could "Good luck, and" be one set of coordinates and "right on, Commander" be another set of coordinates?

Right now we have the coordinates for the R/R line... with our target presumably somewhere along it. What if "Good luck, and ... right on, Commander" define yet another line? Now... if we plot both of THOSE lines and see where they cross on an X/Y axis and then plot a THIRD line between this common X/Y coordinate and the Z coordinate of the first two lines... we would literally be "reading between the lines" as Drew suggested when he said, "It's not locked to a rank. All you need is wanderlust, patience and an ability to read between the lines."

If the entomology of her name ends up being an actual clue, I think I will print off the spreadsheet, eat it, poop it out, frame it, and give it to drew in a grand ceremony.
The name was given to her by a random dude, with no connection or even knowledge of the mystery, before the mystery was even mentioned so for it to lead her to her destiny is utterly absurd. She might be imperial, but I don't think she is enough of an egomaniac to think it would be a clue to follow. Even star wars isn't that bad.
I was a little worried when drew said he was a character writer. I have heard that phrase before, and is associated in my mind with authors who's plots make no sense whatsoever, but use it as an excuse. 'if only you were privy to the characters unwritten background, it would all make sense'. I don't think drew is one if them, but i guess we will have to wait and see.

Have you read the "Children of Raxxla" short story? It continues Kahina/Salome's story and, I think, was sanctioned by Drew. In the short story we discover that Luko wasn't actually stranded at LTT 8740 when he rescued Kahina. He had been sent there for the express purpose of recovering her.

From "The Children of Raxxla":

"...We could have left you on LTT 8740 when you crashed nine months ago..."

Salomé recoiled in surprise.

"Left me? But it was Luko who rescued..."

The woman smiled and gave Salomé a pointed look.

"What a fabulously lucky co-incidence that he was there, eh?" She winked. "Come on."

Luko knew a lot more than he let on... how much more, we don't know. That his giving her the name Salomé had a significance is not out of the question.
