All. I have spoken with Ed and made him aware that there are plans to form a Rift expedition. If you do decide to go en mass I'm pretty sure you will get a very positive reaction from Ed, he's very keen to support these in-game events. There may be some hints in the livestream this evening and it's been confirmed that Salomé herself will be at Beagle Point. If instancing allows she should be in the livestream with Ed at some point.
Right on, Commanders.
Cheers,
Drew.
Man I hope this doesn't become another Distant Worlds thing, I came out here because I heard there was something out here. That should be more than enough to motivate any true explorer. Most explorers wouldn't even need that much encouragment. Just the realization that beyond the horizon there are worlds of such unimaginable beauty in a galaxy chalked with mystery would be enough to set any explorer's engines towards the stars.
I know of more than a few commanders who went to the distant worlds, and never came back, the blood of the wanderer was not in them, and they gave up when the realization of how long it would take them to once more lay eyes on their homeworld would take. Beagle Point has always been the Everest of Earth how many people once clambered to get to it's top so many in fact, that experienced explorers no longer wished to partake in these excursions. Once a thing has become common it loses it's mysterious luster. Sure you have those who are genuinely interested in the adventure, but there are still those who will do it because it has become the 'cool thing' to do, these latter ones are the ones hearts will falter as their passion may have truly laid with their destination, but not within the journey to get there. Once you go beyond the edge of the colonies of our species, and you are confronted with the enormity of eternity you begin realize just the true definition of the word loneliness. One can not help but feel magnanimity towards those who experience this for the first time, and only hope that they have the ability to survive the abyss.
It is the knowledge that where we go, no one else has gone before, each system that we blow our trumpets in, each planet that we place our feet upon, we can be assured that we are the first ones who sang our hymns upon bearing witness to Celestia. It is those who only worry for the outcome and not the adventure in getting there who are blind to her beauty and grace, the goddess of all things, it is they who will not be ready for the ravages of isolation and it is they who will stagger and fall as the presence of Celestia is all that will accompany them once they leave the bubble, and if they can not even recognize that, then they truly have nothing. See first how many return from the distant worlds 'expedition' and see how many have fallen to space dementia. For I know already, that not all will return, their souls have left them having reached their destination their goal, the one thing that kept them going. They could not fathom the return journey. And so only their apparitions are left, to eternally haunt these desolate halls, these corridors of unspeakable beauty, as though they were the petals of a cosmic flower... the galactic core, it's ovule.
