The Formidine Rift - Part 2

Lady Kahina’s Imperial tiara was found in the cockpit, along with a small emblem bearing an ancient symbol on one side and the word ‘Salomé’ on the other.

The symbol is believed to belong to an organisation some refer to as ‘The Dark Wheel’.

Traced lines using the edges of the circular segments align accurately (except the red line, added as extra), I think its a map showing the spokes of the Galaxy, the three circles at the top right could be stars and might indicate a system. Trying to find the correct orientation.

The Dark Wheel, if it ever truly existed, is an ancient organization the predates the collapse of GalCop.

My understanding it that there are several organizations across the galaxy that claim descent from The Dark Wheel... which makes sense. If the rumors about The Dark Wheel are true they were an ultra-exclusive and highly secretive organization. Between the Thargoid invasions, the demise of the Galactic Cooperative, the on-again-off-again wars between the Federation and the Empire and the passing of centuries of time it would be nearly impossible for The Dark Wheel not to fracture into many individual cells without contact with each other. One of the great rumors about The Dark Wheel is that they were searching for a mythological planet known as "Raxxla". The legends never mention if they actually found it.

But now we've really moved into the Tin Foil Hat realm. I don't think they ever existed. Nothing to see here. Move along, move along.

Guys!!!

Im about to attempt a black hole jump to IC 1805 from V595 Persei C....

Does anyone have a system in IC 1805 with a black hole in it? Im lined up but need the data!

Cheers, and... I guess... so long!

Here is my current situation.

As you can see, I am completely nuts. However if a kind soul could point me in the direction of a black hole in and around IC 1805 that would be gold.
The stars making the circle around the black hole distortion ring is actually the entire IC globular cluster itself.

So, send me to my doom!!!!

With a lot of stubbornness, I found something that might look like coordinates. It's worth what it's worth:

For short and not repeat what I had already said, there is more details
If punctuation is extracted from "Good luck, and ... right on, Commander." we obtain: ,...,. what could result in, 3.1
If we pass this "3.1" in a letter to number converter, we get X Z.
"Good luck, and X right on, Commander Y" what gives by counting the letters, and taking account other indications such as the R/R line: X: -8.300 Z: -7.900.
There is only seven systems in this sector, some apparently unreachable. I am on the way (7000ly), but if some are curious, here's the list:

HYPIAE AESCS UJ-P C19-0
HYPIAE AESCS WZ-D B39-0
HYPIAE AESCS Y-20 C19-0
HYPIAE AESCS OW-U C19-0
SCHEAU HYPA EO-P B39-0
SCHEAU HYPA QR-U C19-0
SCHEAU HYPA WC-U C19-0

Finally decided to make the leap into the unknown! I'll be heading out there this evening after planning a route outward. I am going on the assumption that a ship of 25ly is sufficient from what i have read. The pull of going out to explore the mysteries of the rift have sucked me in. I'll be going out in my explorer equipped keelback. Where I'll end up...I am not sure. If anyone wants to they can send me a friend request. My name is the same in game.

Good luck Commander.

Twenty-five light-years may not be enough to cross the Rift but there is still plenty that needs to be mapped along the near-side of the Rift so, if you find the crossing difficult please help map those systems the you CAN reach. I'm currently on my way back from the Galactic Core but hope to be joining the hunt soon.

Just worked slowly through a couple dozen systems in the lower portion of soul nebula entering distances into EDSM and checking for any signal sources, didn't see a single signal source. My method was to jump into a system, get out a few ls away from the central star and throttle down, do my EDSM distances while keeping tabs on the nav menu (set to show only signal sources, stations and systems). Then jump to the next system. So maybe 3-4 min of watching for signal sources in each of about 25 different systems.

Many have been out to soul before so not surprising that nothign obvious showed up immediately, however it seems most systems within and near the nebula aren't in EDSM yet.

Also, the rift proper is farther out, still lots of stars here. Going to go back to 'fastest' jumps for a bit and get out where things thin out more. Also, I should probably pick a sector, mark it down in the google sheets, and get to work more methodically once I get settled out where the stars are thin.

Thank you for the welcome :). After reading through the various discussions, and what seemed to be indicated from Drew, I felt that a range of 25ly would be logical and sufficient for such an endeavor. While having a surplus range would provide more avenues for such a trip it may cause one to skip a system and lose fidelity when retracing a possible route. I have hope that should such a route as has been traversed by Kahina/ aka Salome (pls pardon the spelling) exist, it would exist for those who more closely adhere to her limitations.

Someone PLEASE record this and make sure it makes it to YouTube. I will most certainly be asleep during the livestream.

Being based in Australia, me too. I'm hoping someone transcripts it like last time. Otherwise I know what I'll be doing on the way to work tomorrow morning!

FD always make the stream available on YouTube or Vimeo.

Black ... hole ... jump? What the H is that ?? Does that work ??

I'm currently in 2MASS J0230... plenty of black holes around here.

I have a feeling that the UA might really be the 'key' to this story.
As sort of entrance card to a hidden place, according to hints in GalNet and the comments so far, located at perhaps Cassiopeia A.

So here are some more (wild) speculations:

The UA could cause a drop out of hyperspace into witchspace while jumping to the correct system.
Therefore the UA scans the ship - it needs to collect some ship data before it is able to initiate the drop correctly.

Not everyone shall visit (find) this place. So I guess you would need one or more UA (depends on ship?)
As Drew mentioned, it depends on who is looking'. The one with an UA maybe.

For those who find the UA (the key) by accident, it needs to be as unattractive as possible to go exploring with it.
This is why the UA causes ship damage.
As the old lady says: 'You'll need a tough ship and a good pilot. It's a long way, so make sure you're prepped, no one will be around to help you out'
Tough in terms of 'robust against UA'. And 'a good pilot' who knows how to repair things, while carrying a ship-harming UA while exploring.

2.1 will possibly make it easier for us, most likely with the Meta Alloy Container which reduces the damage caused by UAs.
But again, a 'tough' pilot could have done it since a long time.

Senator Kahinas ship has been equipped with 'state of the art fuel scoop and a custom built Gutamaya discovery scanner'.
FSD and some other modules have proven fakes. So no need for long jump ranges.

The UAs lead us to the barnacles. From them one can harvest MAs which are able to cure UA damage somehow...
Although it would be optional, MAs could also be good to reduce a possible hull-damage when a ship is being dropped to witchspace (like an emergency stop).

C(aine) M(assey). The symbol on barnacles could be a combination of C and M.
Cassiopeia A shape also fits more or less to the form of the barnacle symbol (like many other things in space, I know)

The pilots of the crashed Conda were probably preparing for a travel and collected UAs, which might then have caused the crash.

And last but not least - some people obviously got jimjams when Palin asked for Meta Alloys.
With an UA container their secret could much more likely be revealed.
So they abducted Palin, tried to find out what exactly he knows and ripped him off.
Fortunately for him, the Professor didn't have any clue about the 'UA as a key' thing and was sold to Blue Hand instead of being eliminated.

.... more to follow. Perhaps Salome will enlighten us this evening... who knows.

Anyhow, I think the Cassiopeia A - UA theory is really worth to be proofed. Will give it a go.
But for that it would be really helpful to have a list of systems which have been visited with UAs already.
Do we have one?

Cheers,
Michael
