The Formidine Rift - Part 2

Not sure how much jumponium to take to cross the Formidine Rift, I am thinking of taking FSD Standard Injection x 12 and FSD Premium Injection x 12.[wacko]
Depends - 0 to all of it

Check out the Formidine Sheet in my sig, it has the Heisenburg Crossing for those with a range of 32.6ly, Frigna's Ford if you are lucky enough to have 38ly+, otherwise, go around the Formidine Bridge, but that is a long way.

Hello,
New to the search and am currently on the way to where the map says the Rift is.
Just a thought. From the 1st post: Drew mentions that you don't need Horizons to find "it". Which means you don't need planetary landing and which in turn means you don't need Jumponium. "It" has also been around since before Horizons so I assume that you could have gotten to "it" with an exploration ship.
Am I on the right path?

Have fun, fly safe. o7

Edit: Also if I'm not mistaken it says somewhere in the Lady's speech that you need a tough ship. And the toughest exploration capable ship since launch in my opinion has been the Conda. So I'm assuming that "it" is within the jump range of an Explorer Conda without the need for Jumponium.

Your assumption sound pretty sound. Not sure that you need an Anaconda or if a lesser ship will do. The 'old lady' apparently made her trip in a Cobra Mk III ... but were told she made it TOO the rift not ACROSS it.

If this mystery could be solved without Horizons, we shouldnt need jumponium, right ?

Most of us believe that you are correct.

I've been remiss on my video uploads

Here's may latest video in the "Rift" series. This one returns to in-character dialog and discusses the upcoming launch of the CoR Rift border patrols and the Fuel Rat's refueling Jaques' CG.

Thanks for your replies regarding Jumponium supplies. :)

Stock up in the bubble before you head out, makes it ten times easier. I recommend Eta Draconis system planet A4 and A7 has every jump mat needed.

EDIT: For those of you wondering if you need jumpo, depends on where you cross, or where you want to search it gets very thin in the Rift. The old lady didn't cross the Rift yet she instructed Salomè to cross it. And furthermore just because it has been in game since launch doesn't mean it doesn't require a 40lyr jump range. It's been possible since launch and that may mean many things...

Hello all.

I would first like to thank all the commanders that have contributed with all the info that is available here. I will not name anyone for fear of forgetting someone but a big thank you.

Me and a friend are planning to leave next week to join the search around the Formidine Rift. This will for both of us our first exploration trip. I have read quite a bit about exploration and I kitted out an Anaconda lightly armed with a 31ly jump range. My friend will get an Asp Explorer that will give him around 28ly jump range. I have read the entire first Formidine Rift thread and I'm in the first few pages of this one. I'm taking notes of all relevant information I find and these threads are invaluable.

Now, like I said, I haven't read this thread entirely but I'm planning to finish it before we leave. I have seen a lot of references to systems in and around the rift but I don't remember seeing anything about what would be a useful route to leave the bubble and get to the rift.

So, could anyone suggest some kind of route from the bubble to the beginning of the rift? Once we got there, we're planning to take a few sectors and join the search.

Thank you in advance!

Hello all.
Hullo :D

Glad to have you aboard o7

A few advices

This isn't enough. I'm in an Asp with 33ly max and it's tough near the rift and would have been better ditching SRVs and bits (but maybe not all the weapons and shields)

The area is pretty low in unscoopable stars so there's little to worry about fuel wise, but max that jump range as far as you can. I've been doing a lot of jumping around with the gauge down below "MASS"

It's not too hard getting over to the area, there's a thinner patch but it's no real impedance. I'd thoroughly recommend going under the galactic plane - far fewer discovered systems - but most of the pretty stuff is up above gathering more traffic. I've saved that for the way home but it's entirely a matter of choice - there are a stream of nebulae on the way to visit.

Good luck

Thanks, guys. I will double-check again Dommarraa's spreadsheet, which I had bookmarked already. Will see how we can improve our jump range, thanks for the tip!

Don't lose heart! With enough Jumponium your current Asp/Anaconda config should be great. Head toward the Heart and Soul nebulas. Contact, and join (if you can) the Children of Raxxla. Their current assignment of patrolling the 'Sol-side' border of the rift may be exactly suited to your current configuration/ There is lots of work to done that you can participate in.

Welcome aboard!

I've played with other Latin poets for formidine / formidio references, but I'm not seeing anything solid. Might study Ovid a bit as I noticed he has a star system also (maybe take some Gerasian Gueuze there - I hope it tastes sour like a true gueuze should, Drew).

i thought about the ablative tense or declension and realised the language root is the same as declination. Declination is an astronomy term, so I'm still wondering about the Reorte-Riedquat and then vectoring down through the vicinity of Arcturus route.

You might want to check my posts above regarding the ablative case and the word "formidine" in Latin literature/Ovid.

You guys see what Drew posted in response to the Halsey CG? About being 'eager and anxious' about what it will reveal?!

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=246113&p=3835543&viewfull=1#post3835543

I'd be nervous. You were warned, after all.

Cheers,

Drew.

Followed a short time later by this when responding to someone about turning it into 'Salome' at CoR instead:

https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=246113&page=2&p=3835972&viewfull=1#post3835972

Indeed. Who knows what she would have done with it.

Cheers,

Drew.

I saw his comments too, and think we're too fast to ignore those comments just because they weren't posted in this thread, especially the one that questions "...what she would have done with it"...

Has anyone given exploration data to her???

I don't say the name but there is a engineer that can increase fsd jump range and says you need this when when you want to visit the more dangerous rifts in the void

feels a bit odd commenting on my own post but I was literally falling asleep at the stick last night!

So the Crossing I just did is purple on the way out, yellow on the way back. The attached sheet is every jump cut and pasted from EDdiscovery so read from the bottom up to follow the journey. The red dog leg is from an earlier trip to try and map the outer boundaries

Putting Qohen Leths jam map into EDdiscovery really makes this region pop, nice work man!

for this trip Entry and exit point :
Phoi Aescs IC-B c27-1

turn around point
Hypo Aeb OC-E b53-0

>40ly jumps are highlighted, 28 in total, of those only 2 were level 3 jumps, polonium is such a pain to find I try to avoid them at all cost!

Heading back to the bubble now to get more jump mats. I find it much easier to mine them from barnacles than drive around aimlessly, so here's a little table of percentages of materials per
barnacle. with jump mats highlighted. This is a simplified table based on DmMaster and pudels early barnacle analysis before IH-V c2-16 was discovered

My plan on this trip was to map waypoints along the RRline. So now when you run AnthorNets script ,http://www.edsm.net/test/rift it should pull at least one waypoint within 100 ly of each t+25 distance from the start. at least as far as t=1500 for (x,y,z) = ( 75.75 + (-6.90625t), 48.75 + (0t), 75.15625 + (-5.40625t)

Very intriguing! did the Engineer say anything else?? and why not name names?? lolz..

If any Rifters out to the far southeast (around Vig's Beacon) could supply a route toward the southern tip of Heisnebergs Crossing, and 'northeast' from there - across to the Perseus arm, this will help define the southeast borders of the Rift. The opposite border will probably be defined as the where the Formidine Bridge crosses the Rift.

I think I'm near Vig's Beacon. Out of curiosity, what's the exact system name for that one? I don't have any plans to fly up to the Heisenberg cross though, sorry. I originally crossed near the Heart & Soul and made my way to NGC 1491 and then to where I am now (Phoi Euq TO-Z d13-2), near the edge of the outer arm. I'm not sure if that's useful information at all.

Probably an NDA that beta participants would need to agree to in order to play the beta.

No there is no NDA when it comes to Beta access.

As far as the Engineers are concerned, there are at least two Engineers in the Beta who do FSD modifications, and Beta players already have the invites from them - myself included. I have flown a Clipper to one of the systems and "made friends" with said engineer. Now I need to collect the necessary items that this engineer needs in order to make desired FSD modifications.

But I'm off to bed now ;)
