It was an icy very slippery hill top. I walked just off the top far enough to slide down the side of the hill and could not get back to my SRV. This is why I always bring 2 SRVs with me exploring. I frequently manage to lose one somehow. Fortunately, the walk back to my ship was not too long.

imo, you could use your ship or second SRV to push the first rover down

Now, that's a good idea I didn't think of. I've left the system now and a system with a DSSA carrier happens to be my next way point about 27 jumps away. I think I can get a replacement there. Until then, SRV 2 is being used to hunt down Exio-Biology samples I've foound on route.
