The Hunt For Theta Seven - You Could Win 750,000,000 Cr!

Greetings Commanders,

The hunt for Theta Seven is on! The Affiliated Counter-Terrorism unit (ACT) has acquired an encrypted message that may reveal the location of Theta Seven, the de-facto leader of the NMLA group responsible for attacks across the bubble.

Full details can be found in this recent GalNet article. In short, ACT are requesting that all newsfeeds publish the following encrypted message:

61-76-126-67-99-74-71-113-81-41-96-103-51-117-55-103-91-69-104-117-84-114-141-134-90-108-90-79-115-95-102-102-98-76-91-57-83-104-92-99-96-78-79-83-132-115-80-106-91-150-114-105-148-144-93-163-83-138-123-94-108-115-81-128-147-162-131-140-150-129-29-98-99-59-74-125-55-123-107-112-98-108-82-91-124-71-75-111-109-95-129-89-155-135-98-131-149-97-151-105-152-152-144-128-155-64-81-123-89-90-87-96-59-116-127-52-94-103-51-89-51-47-98-88-61-112-112-111-129-147-124-153-134-109-87-114-121-80-90-113-111-153-131-84-104-131-84-151-113-129-130-117-105-123-73-99-126-106-118-144-97-83-123-104-75-78-90-49

The first person to successfully submit a correctly deciphered version of the message here will receive a 750,000,000 Cr reward!

If you think you have the solution, please reply to this post by starting your message with the words “CODE BREAKER”, and include your in-game Commander name. For example:

CODE BREAKER: “This is what I think the encrypted message says.” CMDR Example.

Good luck, Commanders!

Could you confirm or deny to if Hyades Sector RO-P b6-2 and Hyades Sector RO-P b6-6 Traffic beacon logs are duplicated on purpose or by accident? They both have the exact same numbering.

Addition to my post #466 above:

The number of passing ships is growing: 8, 9, 10, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14
The number of Type-7s is growing: 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
The sum of all other ships stays: 7

If only my maths would be smarter ... ;)

I was wondering what information the message is to convey? I mean there are 168 numbers that could mean 168 characters. Or it is the septets with the 24 numbers. That is quite a difference in information payload. So what could the message be?

168 chars is a damn long message like "Hey dudes, I am taking a day or two off. I guess I will go see my parents on Rigel 7. All gotten over my head lately. Don't forget to feed the cat. Take care and Love 7".
24 chars may be the name of an outpost or station.

So what exactly are we looking for?
I read the galnet article again and it's uncertain this is sent by Theta 7. The article also states that the message was received on 31. July, when the Theta Group was harboured by the Marlinist colonies, but Theta 7 was somewhere else. Would he transmit his location? Orders? A baking recipe?

With the amount of sevens occuring I guess yes, Theta 7 sent it. Story wise it would be good if he transmitted his location.

As you can tell.. I have no idea. Just my 2 cents.
Yes, I think the same. The best I saw here is the morse code idea - but we dont know where are the pause between the dots/dashes, and this makes a very high variant of the order of letters, even with the quick morse decyrptor graphs, too much possible solution atm.

Even better was the binary idea, where we cant see three-digits numbers starting with 2 or 7 on anything, just 1 and nothing (0). But again we dont know where are the breakpoints between the rows. That would result in a short message, like you described, like a 21 letter one, like "SIKAU WOER KN-S B4-16"

The traffic reports seems to be a derail for me, because somebody is trolling there with a T-7, jumping in the systems and then increasing and modifying the outputs.

The most interesting thing is that some numbers are repeated. So only 81 numbers are not repeated out of 168.

If the traffic reports are important, there are 56 values (excluding the last possible sequence number).
With 168 numbers in the message, that gives 168/56 = 3
And with 81 different values /3 =27 characters - maybe
So if the traffic report numbers are a key to be applied to the message, then either
1. It needs to be applied 3 times or
2. If is only applied to say every 3rd number in the message or
3. Some other way of applying it

Just out of curiousity, why do you think it was an emergency message.

Because it wasn't sent using their normal and so far unreadable communication system;

It is unclear why this wasn’t transmitted via the NMLA’s dark-comms network, which remains undetectable despite our best efforts

If you have a undetectable communication system why would you risk sending a message that can be intercepted, unless your current system was out or order and you needed to send an urgent message using a secondary probably emergency use only method?

Following Fasul2k search, I've seen that there are similar numbers in two systems, if we only pick up one of them, and we order by the Type7 numbers,we have this table:

This can be the Key for decode de message?
0 0 1 2 1 1 2
0 2 1 0 1 3 0
2 0 0 1 2 0 2
3 0 0 2 0 0 2
0 2 3 0 1 1 0
2 2 0 1 1 0 1
0 1 2 1 1 2 0

Interesting thing about those reports. If you strip off the final digit as "just" being a sequence number, then not only do all the rows add up to seven, so do all the columns.
Code:
0012112
0210130
2001202
3002002
0230110
2201101
0121120
Unfortunately, treating it as the encryption matrix, inverting it and applying it to the original message arranged in 7 columns didn't yield anything useful :(

EDIT: Post-the solution being found, this was correct, I just botched the rotation of the decode matrix.

2 2 0 1 1 0 1
0 1 2 1 1 2 0
When you multiply rows and columns, you get 7x7=49.
49 is thelast number of the sequence. Could be the key.

Well, that's the question really, why would you?
There wasn't an emergency at that time for NMLA, they'd just successfully attacked and T7 had just made a broadcast claiming responsibility... so why take the risk?
Just thoughts.

Maybe that was when the split, where part of Theta Group left the other part, occurred and they couldn't communicate clandestinely afterwards?

Dear Sirs of Frontier. I am pleased to see that the lore of the game continues with content and that it continues to develop. But for once do you want to include all the content via in-game? Why do I have to come to a forum to find out about this release? They can't do that via in-game (I repeat) in GalNet? I love the Lore of the Elite Dangerous. In fact I have actively participated in it. But I think that this approach of raising the Lore of the game by forcing players to have to enter a forum to keep up to date with what is happening with what is happening in the galaxy ... seems to me something absurd. Knowing that most players do not visit the MMO's forums. I say goodbye knowing that I have to put this in the suggestions. But I want it to be recorded here as well.

Dear Corso Sirs.
It is in-game. All of it.

They did, this was released to GALNET on 12 November 2021/3307.

The OP by Zac contains a link to the released, in-game, GALNET article.

And later on (pages later) Zac also said the clues are in-game.
