The Imperial Cutter - The Pilot

Atm, I feel like I'll never sell my Cutter. Its set up for hauling cargo and passengers and if anyone decides to interdict my Cutter, I will submit and kill everything in sight. then I'll move on to finish my mission.

Another great video.

Great video Sir.

Sure the Cutter is an attractive ship, yes it can haul a lot of everything anywhere - well anywhere that is a station or planetary base but who needs to go to outposts right :D

Seriously, I tried the Cutter during the 3.3 Beta and it just isn't for me. I found it too slow to move and to be honest, even now I can't work out a benefit of having a ship with large cargo capacity. Yes you can make a few million per trip if you find that good trade route but for me I actually enjoy doing missions more. I like trying to work out which missions to stack together so I do an economical run. And if I use a Large ship I effectively delete 75% of the missions available to me (yes I did the maths one day, based on the missions available to me at my home station).

I have nothing against the Cutter (nor the Corvette) and I wish those that have them and like them many hours of delightful enjoyment. But for me, I will stick to my mediums, the only two large I have is my Clipper (which I use for mat collecting cos well I can lol) and my recently purchased T-9 which I think I have used maybe a handful of times and will probably sell it one day (or keep it solely for CG's - meh)

If you're at all serious about trading, you will eventually get a Cutter. I put it off for a long time, but finally caved in. Just can't beat the cargo space, boost speed, and jump range (with a Guardian FSD booster).

Just watched this new excellent video.
You hit the nail right on it's head about the Cutter.
And yes I have a billion plus Cutter, because I can.

If only the Corvette was so good looking.

The Cutter is one of those ships I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it. I don't hate it, but then again it's not a ship that I love either. I kind of tolerate it because sometimes it can be useful, and I'll admit it does look somewhat stylish. If I need to move a lot of stuff it does seem preferable to using something that looks and flies like an office block.

Great video!

Good points all around. When I bought my Cutter it really was “because I can”. I’ve used it for all sorts of activities. Made my first SagA* run in it hauling a full load of meta alloys to the Dove Enigma (21 LY on the way there was NOT fun). I used it as a battleship for awhile, which felt like naval warfare. I used it to haul passengers many a time, and I have it outfitted for core mining now.

Honestly, if it doesn’t have at least a butler when/if space legs drops, another open letter may need to happen.

I have two such ships (Imperial Cutter). One I use to mine minerals from asteroids. This ship is packed with cargo holds and mining lasers.
My second one ship is for pirate hunting. About this the second ship I will talk much detail. It has a small hold of 8 tons. In its hold, I keep the cheese I use to lure pirates. As a cheese, I use precious metals or minerals (Palladium or Painite).
All combat slots are equipped with pulsed lasers, which have been modified by engineers for various combat factors. These lasers on the ship - 7 pieces.
Additional slots are equipped with shields from the Guardians. So same I mean – the points (4 pc) defense for protection from drones-crackers hold. Well full information about the ship can be found here:

After that, I fly to the resource gathering places with the level High. In the settings of the shooting mode lasers set the Random mode. And I start shooting pirates, flocking to the smell of cheese in the hold. The money comes in and the battle rank grows.

Well, since no one seems to pick that up, let me say that I am convinced the Adastra stood model to the cutter!

At 12 million USD she is currently for sale with Burgess. If I had the means, she would be mine in a heartbeat, her sole purpose, exploration. This is the ultimate explorers Superjacht, she runs tenthousand nautical miles on a single fuel and is not such a crazed US or Russian or Chinese swimming Casino with enough storage for hoo... cough cough and butlers, but with a rather spartan but elegant and functional design.

O.K. David, tell you what, now that I told you she is on sale, you owe me two global circumnavigations once you call her your own, the only ship on the planet appropriate for the Elite Dangerous founder.

Tell them MaxG10 sent you, this will give you some discount points, if for some reason that should not work, staff changed or something, let me know and I talk to them. :)

It was the "repair Witch Head" Initiative that forced me, finally, to contemplate the Cutter. I actually flew it unshielded and was amazed at its flight performance and ability to outrun interdictors (my other heavy ship was a T-10 lol).

It's a pleasure to fly, once you can afford to outfit and engineer it properly, but if you come from the direction of smaller ships, it will feel large and clumsy until you get used to its handling. Like the Kraits, it's one of the ships that FD have designed brilliantly.

Very mixed feelings about this ship.
Yes, I own one, almost bought a second one, except for one minor detail...

I hate docking it. It slides around like a block of soap on ice, is just awkward enough to make it easy enough to hang on a toast rack, and it has all the precision of a blunderbuss.

But it is a beautiful ship, mine is bright shiny metallic gold, and it packs a huge punch in combat.

As an exploration ship it is lacking in jump range, a bit heavy in military slots, which means either empty slots or less-than-optimal equipment.

As a freighter, it barely out-hauls a Type-9, but considering a Type-9 can pay for itself in 1-2 runs, and this monster will take 10-12 to do the same.

As a combat ship, it's top notch, being one of the best shield-tank craft and packing a lot of fire power.

As a general purpose ship, it's quite good and well suited to a wide array of tasks.

As a mining ship, it's also quite good, though not at all economical.

The beluga is more beautiful, and bigger, and can actually turn. Maybe not as much shields but it makes up for it in hull.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

The beluga can also move cargo, not as much as the cutter, but with the beluga you can expect to jump 20ly.

Dunno, my 2nd cutter does around 25 with 792 cargo (no Guardian FSD booster)

The beluga is also much much cheaper.

Also, core mining is much easier in the beluga because it turns very well, and you can keep a good ampunt of cargo if you want to laser mine too.

Cheaper it is, but does a miner really care?

:p

I have to stick to ships with center seats or left seats. Cutter and FDL have you sit on the right and I can't handle it. For some reason 1,000 years in the future we don't have the simple option to change our preferred seating.

Shame because Cutter is so glorious.

My beluga was unengineered, engineered it could probably do 30ish.

And i see you forgot to mention the maeuverability, the view, the fuel tank, combat ability, and exploration ability ;)
