General / Off-Topic The Lego thread

Excellent work by Beef!

I bought a sealed Saturn V set towards the beginning of lockdown last year (I regretted not getting the V when it was originally on sale). I intellectually knew what 1m was, but a 1m model is really something else. Currently standing up on my desk as I have nowhere else to put it.

Might have to pick up the ISS at some point too.

EDIT: Have just seen the new Shuttle + Hubble kit. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHH!!!!

If you're collecting, the iss is okay and a must, but if you can get it on sale probably better, its not an exclusive. imo it turned out not the best set.

I'm not a collector (I already spend enough money on other stuff!) but do like the NASA sets. Am well aware of the scale issues with the ISS, but it does seem OK to just build and put on a shelf somewhere.

That Discovery model is dirty, though...

EDIT: FWIW I had a bunch of the original Space Lego kits as a kid, and moved on to Technical Lego. Loved that stuff.

Dirty?

Yeah the newer space sets overall are quite amazing.

I think the most surprising out of the bunch is the saturn 5. You only go in with modest expectations.. its a rocket, how interesting is it going to be.. but its outstanding in so many ways when its done. Yeah the one (and definitely only) set i got aftermarket was the saturn 5. Paid double for it. No not bothered that its being reprinted now.

Lego have announced the winner of the 'out of this world' space competition to design a new giveaway set.
As with the previous giveaway set (40335) they've managed to find the one that least fits the brief and is the most removed from space

You sir have mastered this thinking in brick business. Cutter please :)

mfg you've even done the interiors for some ships. That's too good.

Nice to see some Lego stuff!

Below my city on my attic. Some sets from my youth from back in the 90s. Just last year started rebuilding and expanding.
I like how you've integrated the new roadplates in to the city.
I've not had a chance to use them yet but it looks like they work pretty well. (y)

They are less wide than the old road plates, but I like the fact they are more raised.
I still like the old ones too.

I bet those 'cheek' bits were painful to do :D

My only crit would be the use of curved tiles on the mid upper surface, that part of the ship is much boxier and angular. But at those scales you have limited options.

yea the sides could be better but they would have left gaps if I kept it straight unfortunately.

Anyone tries to steal my Asp Scout will need new kneecaps. I'd also like to see them fit it through the door :D
Indeed, the office of repression of the organized crime has constituted a team of professionals in charge of this delicate affair.
