The Limit Theory Thread

I have not backed LT because I put a lot in elite and Project eternity.
I think I'll buy it when it is out :)

That is looking so amazing, words can't do it justice.
I am very impressed. So glad I backed this.
I backed Elite Dangerous, for obvious reasons, I backed Star Citizen, but tbh, I'm not that excited by it, but WOW Limit Theory is grabbing my excitement and turning it up to 11 :D

Gotcha.

I spent over 4 hours today going through 106 star citizens videos and catching up for over 10 months worth of stuff. I only kept up with here of course and Limit Theory but SC I fell behind BIG time. I received a t shirt and few other things a few months ago but was too busy here....oooops

The rest of the day I was on here....there was HEAPS to do while people in the UK slept. It's 4:06pm Sunday here at present. :)

Limit Theory does look amazing though doesn't it.

Were you in the Alpha at all ? If so I was wondering what your thoughts were.

If you are referring to the Limit Theory Prototype (LTP) I was fortunate enough to play it. You have to understand that it was only a small taster of what was to come. It was limited in what you were able to do but actually there was more content than Josh originally intended. It was supposed to be a combat only prototype but Josh included a bit more depth. It was a lot of fun. There are backer videos on YouTube and links on the Limit Theory site if you are interested.

The LTP really doesn't represent where LT is now. Josh has rewritten a huge amount of code. He plans to distribute an updated version nearer to the launch date of the main game(time permitting) it will contain many of the features you now see in the development videos.

I know, I was in the Alpha myself too. :) I watched the latest update yesterday. Amazing.

His is a name to watch for in the future.

Sorry Styggron, I am not being pedantic, but the Limit Theory Prototype is a pre-alpha. It was envisaged by Josh as an exclusive playable demo.

I am glad you were able to play it and I hope you found it enjoyable.:)

As far as his future is concerned I am absolutely sure he will be a name to watch. Well, we already know that Chris Roberts is impressed by his skill and talent. :)

Yes I should have called it pre alpha it was certainly not at Alpha stage yet.

Yes Chris Roberts was very impressed, I saw all that at the time. Josh has work after LT if he wants it.....he will finish his degree first though as he took a year off this year to do LT.

Brilliant update. This one was very much the dark horse of the 3 new space games but wow, he is setting the bar high. He is also showing off a lot of functionality and gameplay. I should say a really big thank you to Lars from the ED Kickstarter for pointing me in the Limit Theory direction. I am always impressed that Josh is constantly trying to find new ways to do things and is not afraid of ripping out code. I get the feeling that Josh may just stay as his own boss because he's just too good to work for anyone!

Agreed.

I'm not sure who pointed it out to me but it was probably Lars (the Larsbot as I call him).

:)

I miss him greatly.

Yeah, Lars was a trooper on the KS, he always said he wouldn't be joining the forums after the end of the KS but I wish he would, he was a true gent.

He has an account on the forums, he just doesn't post that much. During the Kickstarter he was on paternity leave if I remember correctly, so he had a little more time on his hands.

Latest update from the incredibly talented Josh:

It's so easy to be blown away by what one (well maybe a few more if you include the outsourced music!) guy is making here. Secretly, even as a longtime die-hard Elite (Braben and Bell) fan, it is Limit Theory that is sounding more like the kind of game i wanted in the Elite genre.

I'll be spoiled for choice as i've backed LT, ED and SC. So one of those should scratch the 'elite' itch good enough :)
