That was a pretty impressive update as usual from Josh, and i'm very happy the guys at FD are keeping an eye on it's progress (Mike Evens etc), that gives me faith they are NOT afraid of competition and just as open minded and excited by the recent resurgence in space sim interest
As for the Gates issue, i think it is a neat and believable solution to getting super speed in system, but i always have this nagging question in the back of my mind when i see it as currently implemented in Limit Theory,
'Where is the protection of these gates? Where are the police/drones/weapon system built on the gates etc?'
I would imagine that these would be a huge target for Pirates and enemies of a govenment/system, so they really need some kind of protection in place to make them really fit into the game world more acceptably imho.
Also would/should every system have them? Again coming back to there general usage and how that makes them seem believable in the game world. Surely some systems would be too poor/under-developed to have them? maybe they should just be in place in core systems and rich trading zones?
So those kind of issues bug me the most in relation to them as a technology in the game.
