The new crime and punishment system will adversely effect the way we manipulate the BGS

Nice way to put it. So casual. That's some "cutthroat galaxy" politics indeed! :D

(Personally, I don't mind some killing, but I don't like murder as a primary tool for BGS politics.)

Where was the uproar when the Feds destroyed 10,000 people to not-catch 1 terrorist freedom fighter! /JK

I do like the changes though...as far as the BGS goes...people taking the path of guerilla...should have a realistic fight on their hands.

wait, they have not changed System Security to send big badass ships to fight big fat badass ships that keep following you past waking off?

or at leasts ending 8 FAS after you when you overdo it? daym. lol what a classic FD deisgn oversight :p

When I did my testing I ended up with Annies all around me when flying my Corvette. I didn't stay close to a Station though and ate up the Security that spawns there but was in a Nav Beacon / USS. Repeatedly hopped in and out as well. But at one point when you zone in you instantly get the ATR pop along as well, and that's Game Over.

Please retry your testing in a random System killing random Civil ships in a Nav Beacon.

Went to a high-sec system and did just this, response time after the first ATR engagement became very quick after subsequent kills. Not sure how much is high-sec or how much is some new notoriety threshold (I'm at 55 mil or so fed bounty now).

This will definitely curtail mass murder of security forces in high-sec space, which is probably a good thing. The approach is silly, but NPC behavior should have prevented such farming in the first place. Ships that don't think they can win should evade, stall, and wake-away, as needed, not stick around to die.

Heading back to Wyrd to see how medium security reacts to my increased bounty.

Edit: Medium behaves similarly, but I've noticed some oddities. Attacking targets at a starport generally allows more kills before ATR shows up than at a Nav Beacon...this may possibly be linked to bounty amount though. I also seemed to have crossed some notoriety threshold when I passed 50 million cr bounty.

Trust me, everyone attempting this will be slaughtered sooner then later. There's not one Pilot out there that could single-handedly hold out against the masses and firepower that are thrown at you.

I'm getting multiple ATR wings at this point (Vultures and Pythons some times in the same wing, sometimes separately)...I don't think any number of them can stop someone who is paying attention from disengaging and most solidly built ships can survive quite a few shots, even after they knock out your shields.

So viable but not OP?

Depends on from what perspective.

Possible to use murder to influence the BGS, sure, but from what I'm seeing it rapidly becomes tedious in high-sec areas.

As for the ATR ships, the reverberating cascade burst lasers are absurd, and their response time being instant after a kill, but only after a kill, is pretty silly...but they aren't going to shoot anyone down if they leave promptly, and may well not save a target under attack if the perpetrator has a strong hull.

Is murder currently as a tool overpowered and without reasonable consequences..?

Yes.

Have FD addressed it in a way that poses a greater challenge and ensure that this isn't the ONLY tool used..?

Yes.

Many have attested that there are other ways to effect the BGS to get the result you want - We will just have to adjust to the new challenge whatever that challenge is..?

In relation to this subject and based on anecdote only I'm led to believe that PP may not be effected to the same degree as 'random killing' and thus this could also be a very subtle shove by FD towards reviving and sustaining it..?

I think it's time for people to test again and see how the challenge can be beaten.

Let's hope they can balance BM's and make it more of a challenge in future as well.

Nobody wants things easy in Elite.

My only gripe with this is that if my faction wants to force another faction out of the system, why would they give me a bounty for killing their ships? Hopefully with squadrons we'll have that option.

Because they arent at war in a cz or an anarchy faction. My company wants to drive off competitors too, but they sure as heck dont want me to commit mass murder. ;) officially supporting genocide should be limited to very select factions (theocracy, dictatorship?).
