if you get caught being a hypocrite, double down and claim (or have others chime in and say) it's to raise awareness for (insert weak sauce point here) so FD can do something about it.

Fair enough. While you're in the mood to educate us, do you happen to know why he then logged back into Solo mode? Is that also part of some meme of which we're ignorant, or was it more of a spur of the moment thing? Either way I hope he didn't do anything to affect the background simulation too much while he was in there, what with it being unbalanced and "easy mode" and all.

As someone who is always on the receiving end of PVP usually at a CG in open (not that I mind it's part of the fun and makes the game exciting) I usually try to run from a wing trying to kill me if I'm on my tod by evading & high waking out. I've never combat logged and lost a fair few expensive ships and often much time and effort (meta alloy collecting anyone) this whole thing makes me laugh my socks off

I think if there was even a shred of suggestion that he set out to do that then your comment "may" hold water. The fact remains though that he panicked in the heat of battle (no shame there, we've all done it), wrecked his exit strategy then soiled his pants and menu clogged when he realised it was going south fast. No amount of lolz in TS and nervous laughing will detract from the fact he was caught with his pants down and whilst he likely didn't care if he lost his ship he sure cared about losing face enough to exit the game and limp to safety in solo.
I get the whole "we are just showing it how it is etc." and I get that there's no "rule" broken but the fact is we all know its an issue and we don't need more people highlighting for the lolz. End of the day with this sort of thing if you aren't part of the solution then you're part of the problem and highlighting it over and over and over again is not a solution it means your part of the problem.
