Still can't make my mind up about NMS. I want to like it, really I do. The exploration side of the game is right up my street but there's something that just doesn't quite click with me. I think this is going to be one I pick up during the sales a while after release.

I could have picked it up with a small discount from GOG over recent months (they had like a 10% pre-order thing), but decided that as i've really enjoyed all of the info since the VGX years ago, all the interviews with Sean etc, i would buy it full price when it releases, although probably not right away as for over a decade i never buy a game on first release, usually waiting for the first patch/update. So i'll probably do that, and as i'll be playing it offline i'm in no rush to 'compete' with others.

It's going to be a great Autumn :)

I did laugh at this :)

I understand the aim is to get to the center of the galaxy - but that is a very long way. Does anyone have any idea as to what compelling game play will drive us towards the center? At the moment, I can see why you would explore a planet with life or move to the next one, but I am missing the piece that makes me want to move towards the center.

From the vids I've seen it's been hinted that there's some kind of background plot/story that's meant to make you want to keep travelling towards the centre.

Fingers crossed! :)

This will occupy my space-game nicely while i wait for ED to be finished, and i'm so looking forward to exploring all these 1950's-1970's sci-fi cover art styled worlds :D And mods! i'm definitely going to be exploring the modding potential too :D

small things

With all the hype around this game, i'm sure that a lot of people will get disappointed when they finally get to play it and complain over this and that as they always do.

Yeah, lots of hype rarely ends well unfortunately. It looks interesting and has some interesting gameplay, I am being cautiously optimistic on it but I don't think it's going to be the wonder game some folk think it will. I do however expect it to be an enjoyable game. Keeping my beady eye on the reviews for this one.

I don't look at reviews much. If I'm uncertain about a game I'll watch some YT gameplay videos. That's usually enough for me to decide.
With NMS however, I just like the styling of the game. Its pure sci-fi, which appeals to me, its why I have it in my steam library waiting to be played. [big grin]

NMS have gone down a very different route to ED and that's good from my point of view. It looks completely different and I guess some folk will love them, some will hate them and some will not be that bothered as long as the gameplay is good!

yep, I feel the same.

I dont get too excited about games these days because they never end up as good as I imagine, although it is fun to be part of the hype train!

Not sure what to make of this one as we really havent been given to much info, this could be a good thing, or it could be bad, I think back to the lack of information we were given about X-Rebirth, it soon became apparent why!
