Hmm, that does sound a bit like these forums to me, but that comes down to what side of the discussion you are on I think

We are all biased by our own opinion, some people will not be able to understand how anyone could enjoy NMS, in the same way that I can't understand why anyone could think the RNGineers are any good. Doesn't necessarily make one side more right than the other of course
True.
But if you enjoy something that should be enough. I really like chips, for example. A lot of Chinese take-aways are in my area, and they all do great chips. They do pretty good egg fried rice too. Sometimes I'll encounter people who don't like chips though. They prefer salad, or cake, or tomatoes, or something else. They just don't like chips.
Am I going to get angry with them? I am going to get mad and insist that they're totally wrong about everything? Why would someone else not liking chips provoke an emotional reaction in me?
But if I, for example, supported a football team, let's say the football team is Accrington Stanley, and someone said they can't play to save their lives, that might make me angry. It's evident they're a crap football team. It's obvious they're not going anywhere. Yet I am angry when someone points out the obvious.
Why?
Is it because I have tried to convince myself that this is the best football team ever? Is it because I feel some sort of "loyalty" to this football team? Is it that I being confronted with a truth that makes me think "yeah they are kind of crap" makes me feel uncomfortable about this loyalty, and to justify it to myself I have to defend them or face the fact that I have lied to myself?
If someone genuinely enjoys a video game they won't get angry if others calmly say "this isn't for me" or even if they say "this really isn't that good you know".
