Game Discussions The No Man's Sky Thread

What I feel a bit bitter about is that NMS seemingly gets a easy pass - "this stuff will be added later" - while ED got trashed about not having atmosphere planets since launch. Also "most ambitious game ever"? Please.

Partly its how you market it. People like Sean Murray and Chris Roberts pretty much use a 'yes to all' mode when answering questions about possible future DLC. Michael Brookes pretty much answers all those questions with "Would be fun, maybe, someday, we'll see". When HG said they were gonna add base-building soon, the logical question would be "But Sean, you said you wouldn't, you've done no work on it at all, how are you going to do it, how will it work out and what'll be the point?"

Instead, the Hype Machine goes into overdrive again and just assumes they'll add the Most Awesome Base Gameplay Ever within a few weeks.

Most people cant even play it me included, those that can experience horrible framedrops...Total Biscuit cant even play it without the FPS dropping down to 10.

This game is released for 1 hour and already competes as WORST PC PORT ever against that last batman game.

The reviews are already trashing it to oblivion because of the issues....

Yepp biggest flopp. I cant even get past the "Hello Games" logo if this keeps up i will get my refund and i am not the only one that thinks so. I should have known....its SONY after all.

And when all dust settles Hello Games have cashed in. Gotcha.

Playing on gtx1080, it is prettier than PS4. Had my first CTD, so decided to check out some impressions. Now I have to try higher resolutions.

Oh and my starting planet is incredible. Red grassy knolls, 19 degrees C and pretty passive sentinels. Life is good. Oh and pro tip: If you run out of mining charge and don't have carbon, you can melee plants for carbon. Took me a while to figure out.

But is it port? Afaik it was PC game originally. Everything indicates that it was developed in parallel.

Be carefull, steam only refunds if less than two hours 'played', and the launcher counts. Better get a refund if you get close and re-purchase when its fixed. Hows everyone else doing? Steam is exploding with negativity but that doesnt have to mean anything yet...

There are about 200 thousand people playing it right now on Steam, if we assume that the sales on PS4 were similiar, the game has yielded about 24 million in revenue. The moral of this story is - FDev should have made Elite way more colourful. Does anyone have any idea what's the NMS marketing budget?

Sales are MUCH higher than that, not everyone can play the minute it is released.

Eh, don’t fret too much about it. Elite is doing just fine financially, and NMS is a much more casual game than Elite so it was always going to sell in greater numbers anyway. I’m just glad that Elite not only exists but is actually doing well.

But WOW at the early NMS reviews for PC, lots and lots of issues, I didn’t expect that at all.

Wow it is getting absolutely hammered on Steam. [where is it]

Apparently it crashes frequently and a lot of people aren't able to play.

I wonder if the servers are going into meltdown?

Usually said by the same people who think that NMS is the first game with a procedurally generated galaxy, or planetary landing. The goldfish are excited.

AAA publishers do these huge PC beta tests internally. It seems HG have passed on this. Considering amount of shaders on screen for this game this is really doesn't come as huge surprise.

Yeah, that one too. It is fine for some excited fan to say that, but those bits are repeated by media as Eurogamer.

Just been reading some of those reviews .... Low frame rates .... stuttering .. crashing ..... Someone has suggested a possible fix: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198093362915/recommended/275850/ not sure if that helps or not.

I think i will wait until it is on sale .....

Well, considering its released on GoG as well you might as well try a torrent and see if it works on your rig. If it does, you can safely buy it. I'm probably going to do that, as my pc isnt nearly as good as the pcs from people going ape on steam...

That's probably only half of the sales, remember than half of the planet is asleep ;)
