Game Discussions The No Man's Sky Thread

Anyone know if you can invert flight controls? Flying low at high speeds is suicide if pitch can't be inverted.

Also, I tried it with Oculus Rift and Vorpx. Without messing around with any settings in Vorpx, on foot you aim with the Rift, turn body with mouse. Cockpit view gets weird. You can't look around and if you take off, you steer the ship with the Rift. Also FOV was ridiculous because I hadn't changed it in the first place. Frame rate was fine (no frame rate issues for me otherwise either). I had forgot the key for edge peek (menu is a nightmare) and took my Rift off, well the image never recovered after that. Gameplay on foot looked promising, if I can fix the FOV. Flight, not so much.

Its funny. People purchase a product, product does not work, people complain that product does not work. This is normal. Other people complain that people are complaining about a product not working. This is how games work.

Ya got to wonder why people are so invested in defending a game that they are willing to ignore the fact the game does not work for a large number of people. So much so that they ask for mass murder.

Well, if they can fix the SSE4.1 issue for those people fast the game should start, atleast people running the mulator were able to start the game, but the game itself runned rather bad because of the emulator...

I dont have much knowledge about that stuff can only parott from the forums about it.

Yet, NMS runs fine on my 5 year old PC which has an Intel i7 2600k, a GTX 680 and 16GB memory. I haven't bothered looking at the FPS because I am too busy enjoying playing it.

It stuttered a bit before HG bought out a patch, but now it seems ok, so it shows they re working on fixing the bugs.

Anyway, dinner over... back to the game. [smile]

Because most of them are utter, utter morons?

Or the game does not work and they are sick of trying to make it work after 55 minutes. Perhaps I am old fashioned but I expect a product to work when I purchase it or I return said product and call it junk.

Ah, I was going to try that once I got decent performance. 2d I presume, right? Are you using any kind of special profile? I wonder if Ralf can get at least Z-normal/adaptive 3D in there, because I doubt HG ever will... trying to rejigger everything for VR and not making people sick with FPS locomotion while hitting 90fps doesn't really seem to be in the cards for them.

So Steam officially lists no multiplayer support for NMS.
I guess that's that then?

It has done ever since it went up on the store months ago. Nobody listens when you tell them though.

You can, but it's not required to avoid crashing into the landscape as the game automatically stops you from doing that.

been playing for the last 2 hours.

It's....

it's...

it's not good guys. It really isn't. I'm gonna plow on in case it gets my interest but it's just....you can't even crash. i repeat, you CANNOT crash your ship. your ship will NOT touch the surface of the planet unless you initiate landing sequence.

i kinda can't get over this right now.

Looks like part of the problem is that Sean does not understand what minimum spec's mean.

Number three please make sure your GFX card is above the min spec. OpenGL 4.5 is required to play No Man's Sky

If your GFX card has to be above the Min spec then the Min spec is wrong.

Also the listed Min on Steam is a GTX 480, but that only runs OpenGL 4.2.

Despite my earlier reservations about the handling of the multiplayer issue I feel so sorry for Sean and the rest of the team. They must be utterly heartbroken.

Riiight, they can retire tomorrow richer than 99.9% of the world having produced a pretty sweet video game that had a rocky launch.

I feel so sorry for them... NOT.

I'm getting pretty horrid performance with a 1070, low fps, stuttering like crazy. Restarting endlessly to mess with the graphics settings is a pain. Anybody have any suggestions for what to tweak or do I just wait for an update?

Shadows are going to be the thing that's killing you.

Turn them to low.

I will guess - they also use compute shaders to do surfaces of planets. As older cards doesn't support this drivers run them on CPUs instead. Welcome to slowdowns and crashes.

All this is public knowledge. Does Hello Games even have QA?
