Resume: Go and play SC or NMS. Sad...
I hope someone from FDEV that REALLY can change things see the video and... change things.

Space Engine is great, hope you enjoy the gameplay. What keeps me from giving SC a closer look is the lack of VR support.
I tried NMS recently, and while I have a ton of respect for how Sean and Hello Games managed to turn things around after the initial release, I still feel like it's not my kind of game.
I'll give Space Engine a closer look this weekend. As recommended by Obsidian Ant tonight - another major content creator who used to be one of Elite's greatest fans, but turned sour after Odyssey. I'm still amazed how Frontier managed to screw things up so badly from a rather comfortable position.

While I have little time for Hawkes Gaming, their unsubstantiated claims about Smear Campaigns or their constant self-aggrandizing, so I CBA to watch the video.

In fairness to No Man's Sky, it does have mod support. So getting a more realistic look isn't outside the realm of possibility. Mods to change space to black, more realistic looking black holes, more toned down terrain and sky color palettes. There is a realm of possibilities. The only downside for me about NMS is the basic ship mechanics and the whole "star is part of the skybox" bit. But otherwise, those are small prices to pay if you're into the difference in gameplay approaches.Tried NMS myself, a bit. Why cant they just upgrade the look, move away from the storyboard cartoon dev proposal look, to being realistic? The have all the great interaction stuff done really nicely, just up the look.
It's a really nice game! I'll give a try!I was watching some videos and saw Everspace 2. Decided to take the plunge, purchased the Early access for $52, and it's already better fleshed out.
I know it's early access, I know it has bugs, I know my game will be reset between releases, still enjoying it more than repetitive scanning on planets that look all the same.
Enjoy. If you've played Everspace 1 before, you'll be right back where you left of.It's a really nice game! I'll give a try!
Thanks for the tip.
The release that, according to CIG, is right around the corner for... how many years now?According to SC devs, VR is meerely a click of a few buttons away, so you should be happy that shortly after release and some bugs removed, they may get their VR added. Looking forward to that, myself.
