My CV1 is finally shipping! Might be time to sell my DK2.
Once you've settled in and feel confident, give this a try ... https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=69.
You'll be surprised at the improvement.
Using this tweak, I have a better image on my CV1, (better than ED's SS1.5). By using the oculus driver Pixel Density setting set to 1.2, I get 90fs in stations with 80% GPU use, and the image is still better than ED's SS1.5. Can it be, that there are CV1's with different lenses? I had the chance to buy the CV1 directly from a kickstarter, who received it very early. So I do not understand the big issues with the god rays. Checked also some Youtube to see for myself, and it doesn't look the same with my CV1. When you are in the hangar and look towards the lights at the wall, I see some shining thing, but for me this looks more like a realistic reflection, when you look directly towards a lamp spot.
Reason why I am asking is, that the Oculus Rift had some delivery problems around May - probably because certain missing parts.
The hurting face will go away with time, wives will always be angry, its part of their genetic make-up. the problem is you never know why or for how long it will last.
The HMD's resolution is fixed at 2160x1200. Any changes you make in game or on desktop are only representative of your monitor. If you were expecting this first generation HMD to look as sharp as a monitor then you didn't do your homework. The light bleed (godrays) are known in both Rift and Vive. If you spend some time reading these VR threads you will find pretty much all your answers.
Ohhh....I had the same question about the resolution.
Strangely, when I first tried it the resolution looked really bad. I saw it was set low and moved it to 1920x1080 and it was so much better. I can't imagine that it was my imagination.
So I came here wondering if I could set it above 1920x1080.
There is some loss of imagine quality but much less than I expected. And the added 3D VR feel totally makes up for it.
I feel a little disoriented after my first flight. It's a little frightening because you completely disconnect from the real world. When you play on your monitor you're still at your desk. But on the Rift, when I move my Ch Throttle in the real world I see my virtual hands move.
I'm so thankful to all the hardworking engineers that made it possible for us to enjoy this technology.
Oh, and docking my ship is just a totally different experience.
Hi guys, my Rift is coming today. Fingers crossed that work is quiet LOL. I was just wondering if there was anything I can do before it arrives to speed up the setup process? Can I start downloading/installing the software for example?
I have an Oculus ID, is that the only login I need?
I'm a bit nervous to be honest. I'm one of those annoying people that are not easily impressedI pray that the god rays aren't too bad and I hope the cable doesn't bother me (I don't use my head tracker much because the cable gets on my nerves, plus other reasons). Plus I'm used to 3440x1440 sharpness on a 34" monitor on Ultra so I hope I don't focus on the the lower resolution [blah]
Hi Mad Mike - I don't see the gods ray in Elite or only very little. So let me check the game Henry and I will find out if there are some with my CV1 or if I am just simple immune towards this topic. Thanks!

The setup process is thorough and well done.
I don't think you can install anything in Oculus home until you go through it.
If ED is through steam then you'll only need to install and setup steam VR to play. No, it's nowhere near as clear as your monitor, and no, it won't matter to you.![]()
Thanks for the reply, I installed the Oculus App earlier to save time. Rift has just arrived so here we go!...

I got my CV1 running at the weekend and have been DK2 user for a while. I had some teething problems getting ED to run which took the shine off a little. All told I remain completely blown away by ED in VR. I would say I'm moderately impressed by other VR experiences, but nothing comes remotely close to ED for me so far.
